Boy, this brings me back to when people actually spoke to one another over a dinner table, unhurried and the rooms were filled with laughter, chatter and my father and his brothers were always pulling pranks on someone. Growing up in the 1960's was a Lot different than now. Both of my grandmother's were excellent Southern cooks and there was always more food than you could shake a stick at. Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas were especially important and everyone came to celebrate and spend the entire day at one or more houses. We always went to church and I remember at Christmas we would have an evening Christmas service where everyone would hold candles and sing 2 or 3 carols. Just the odd things you remember. Man what I would give to see my grand parents, mother and father again.

This is kinda like my family's Christmas but if it was in the 50s. We're a black family and this really reminds me of our Christmases.

Hey! These are great! Are there any channels similar to yours who let people use the footage for film projects etc?

The film is jittery, the top and bottom should not have been cropped off to fill the picture, the speed needs to be slowed down. A poor transfer job.

Dear God how I wish we could go back to those days. Everything was so much simpler . People were so patriotic and so proud to be American . Now Some Americans don't know how lucky they are. I miss the 70 s so much.

So I am old. My mom was one of 12 kids and my dad had 5 brothers and sisters. This reminds me of the get togethers we had during Christmas and New Years Eve. Everyone dressed up and having a great time. Miss you all...

Except Nixon wanted black men for free prison labour, don't for a second think it wasn't planned exactly like that.

Blacks in New York City in 1958 had MORE intact mother/father/child families than whites did. From 1945 to 1964 was the most explosive period of economic growth of the black middle class and culminating in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Wow seeing something from the past in color as opposed to black and white really makes all the difference. Hard to describe but it feels more real i guess if this home movie was in black and white it would seem hard to think it actually happened
