Hey great review, lovely bike from suzuki, was wondering, how difficult was it for you to remove the stock tail ? Can it be done or need to bring it to a professional ?
@LernenundFahren
@LernenundFahren Күн бұрын
I'm comfortable doing most small jobs myself, but for the tail tidy, because it involved moving the wiring for the brake and signal lights, I got the dealership to do it for me. You could probably do it yourself if you're good with electrical stuff and you have a couple of hours to kill.

@@LernenundFahren Thank you so much, considering this bike for myself, gonna come down to either this or the Duke 790. However Suzuki has been so generous with the stock specs in comparison to KTM, or any other manufacturer in this segment + the fact that the 790 is from China, which is not a bad thing, but outsourcing in China usually means cheaper labour/parts and overall build quality in the long term.

Nice review. I own that bike since May this year an I also ride abut 7500 km this season. I love it, this bike and of course the riding. The landscape of your country is beautiful but I agree with @mikeamphlett7913 your corners ar not corners. 😅 I can show corners in Germany or Austria too. Biking in Germany is so much fun too and btw I am a woman and you would definitely get a compliment from me for your bike because I love this bike too. Many thanks for your tip about Corbin benches, I'll probably have to drive by there. About no tailfin, I don't have any problems without it, like dirt or mud on my clothes. I put a shorter version on my bike too. And I am riding in the rain often. Best wishes from Germany and have as safe journey all the time.

it never once occurred to me that hornets would be such a big problem in Canada. When I visited it was remarkably hornet free (admittedly that was 4 hours in Vancouver airport so probably not typical of your average hornet infested Canadian road). Also looking back on the times I've ridden on the back of a motorcycle I can only say I am now so grateful that I never sneezed while wearing a helmet.

The hornets always seem to show up all at once in August. They buzz around angrily for a few weeks and then they disappear all at once in September when it starts to get cold. They were particularly bad this year, maybe the worst I've ever seen them, but I somehow avoided getting stung. Best time to visit Canada is June or July - great weather, beautiful scenery, no hornets! 😃

Before I post this wall-of-text, I'm gonna preface it with two obvious disclaimers: First, I'm just a random viewer. This is YOUR channel. You owe us nothing. Do what is best for YOU and YOUR life goals. Second, this is only my personal experience and may not be representative of your general audience. At the start, I didn't come to this channel just to "learn languages." I subscribed to this channel for learning **German**. If your videos had been about French, Russian, Chinese, or whatever, I wouldn't have clicked on them. If you started posting videos in those languages, I would probably unsubscribe -- not out of anger or anything, but because there's just not enough time in one's life to learn every language and I can't justify spending 15 minutes every week on a language that doesn't capture my interest. Now, in my case, Spanish is an interesting exception, because happens to already be on my list of "languages I would like to learn," so I would stick around if you pivoted content. But for every one person like me, there are probably ten who don't have Spanish on their list and would find other videos to watch. The one thing I would personally request is not to flip-flop languages. If you want to run two channels and post to both half as often, great, but a single channel with both languages would really limit the breadth of people your channel would be useful to. On a positive note, in my year-and-a-half or so as a subscriber, here are the things I have enjoyed most about your channel: I love getting to see the beautiful Alberta countryside. I love listening to discussion about the senses of words and phrases beyond their literal translations. I especially enjoyed Ausflug72, which covered modal particles. I love incidentally learning more about motorcycle culture (I have never even been on a motorcycle and likely never will). I just love the vibe of this channel. It feels super casual, low pressure. It's like one of the three places on the Internet where I've ever dared to post something in German. But yeah, ultimately, I would say: Do whatever is best for you. If you come back next year with more German videos, I will continue to gladly watch. If you spin up «Aprender y conducir», tell me where to find it and I will be there. If you decide you even need to step away from KZbin entirely, I'll miss watching your videos, but would understand completely.
@LernenundFahren
@LernenundFahren Ай бұрын
That's totally fair - I fully expect that if I do switch this channel to Spanish, I will lose most if not all of my current subscribers. A spinoff channel is certainly an option. I'll give that some thought this winter. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback!

The standard seat I have is good for about 1 hour before I need a break. I also find if I Pre Load the quick shifter a second before changing up or down its so much smoother. @LernenundFahren
@LernenundFahren Ай бұрын
Congrats on the new bike! You're going to have an absolute blast on it, I'll bet! Personally I don't bother rev matching when using the quickshifter to downshift, as it seems like the quickshifter just handles it. But if this is your first bike, I'd actually suggest maybe don't use the quickshifter at all for the first little while. Try shifting manually until you've got the fundamentals nailed right down. That way you can better appreciate what the quickshifter is doing for you! That'll also help you later if you ever borrow a friend's bike that doesn't have a quickshifter on it. Have fun, ride safe!

Another (older) Australian here, and yeah, I'm definitely in the intersection of all the components of that Venn diagram at the start, so the joke was pretty easy to grok ;-) I'd say "tart" is still pretty active in Australian English, but maybe less so among the younger generation (we're making a slow but steady journey towards "American English" (whatever that is...) and away from "British English" (whatever that is...)). But it doesn't really mean "tramp", which is pretty much a homeless person, as much as a woman who's regarded as easy/ promiscuous/ overly_dolled_up_in_a_suggestive_or_tacky_manner. As you might guess from the latter description, it's not used much in polite company!

Well said: I think that language learning is one of the fields of knowledge most riddled with fakery, false promises, unrealistic expectations, snake oil, *gefährliches Halbwissen*, usw. I started on German when I was about 54, and yeah, it's a *process* -- has been and still is! In particular, it quickly became clear to me that my knowledge of the mechanics of English (as distinct from its use) was less than rudimentary, and more like non-existent, which is, of course, typical for a monolingual adult, especially in a country where only one language is widely spoken. And that lack of structural knowledge makes a big difference when you run head first into the German abyss containing cases, gender, prepositions, moods, conjunctions, adjective endings, forms of address, tenses, and all that jazz. Essentially, there's a huge amount to assimilate, and all of it takes time: enjoy the journey! Force-feeding, unless absolutely vital (for work or study, zB) just doesn't make for fun, and the tripe about learning a language in 30 days or 6 months or even a year is for me the exact opposite of *fun*. It just sets up a game that you can't possibly win. Hmm, this is getting out of hand: but one or two small things before finishing. The language myth that I might hate most of all is that you "just have to learn language like a child" and/or "Don't think in English, just think in German and it'll all just start to make sense". Oh, FFS, where to begin? Maybe by realising that children take about 5 years to learn their first language to an effective level, and that's with pretty much 24/7 interaction with, and correction by, a native speaker. Whatever else it is, that's not *efficient*. And "just thinking in your target language" could be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard! How, exactly? Force of will? Just randomly throwing Wörter together and hoping for the best? OK, enough!!

Agreed ... i think it may be a ton more "natural" to just grow-up learning more than one language, because you're already in "formative mind language-learning" mode, but being older (a bit, or a bunch) doesn't mean it's naturally "harder." Learnin' is for any age of our brain or meatsack! And some lovely singing at the beginning, mate. ;) Tschuss!
