Ugly. This is not how skilled tile installers make niches. A skilled tile setter uses mitres and epoxy. Schluter has nice products, but the niches are more suited for amateurs than pros. Top level tile nstallers can mitre everything. They don't use metal tracks, tile edge, or even jambs

Hi looking through comments and on your site. You recommend lowering heat in between heating events. Do you have an ideal temperature? I live in upstate NY and during the winter we keep the house around 68-70 but want the floor in the bathroom to be warm in the morning and at night. If I want the floor to be 75 by a certain time how far in advance should I have it come on and what idling temperature during the day do you recommend? Thanks!
@schlutersystems114 күн бұрын
Hello there! Every floor is unique and the temperature and timing will depend on your specific installation, building and location. We recommend experimenting to find the ideal settings. You may want to start by increasing the temperature a few hours before you need it to reach the desired level, then adjust based on how quickly it responds. Hope this helps!

I am looking at installing a shower pan. And related subfloor or under layer prep products for that. Are these bases used primarily in preparation for installing a tile floor? Or for installing a shower pan? If I want to install a shower pan, would I use a product like this for the base underneath? Or are they two separate methods? (shower base + tile OR shower pan?)

Hi there, our shower trays are for tile installations and can go over typical substrates. The substrate must be clean, even, and load bearing. I’m confused as to why thin set was applied to every stud? By applying on the studs further out, isn’t the problem just being exacerbated? Any reason not to just apply to the recessed studs, using the true plane of the proud ones? 🤷♂️ In all honesty, this would apply so even more if the bowed studs were the ones that were proud. I surely wouldn’t want to add to the material.
@schlutersystems117 күн бұрын
You only need to put thin-set on the applicable studs. However, it can be helpful to put some thin-set on all of them, so you have somewhat of a cushion as you're pressing the board into place, rather than having to guess which ones need it and which don't and having to reapply multiple times. Hope that helps!

Per Schluter documentation, you can connect "multiple" heating cables to one thermostat "providing" the total load does not exceed 15A. So... two separate areas, each wired with DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cable... whose total "combined" amperage does not exceed 15A... can both be connected to a single thermostat - no Power Module required.
