Hey Jachin, I really enjoyed watching this video. I’m a fellow 23 year old recent college grad in a similar situation and have been thinking about starting a series of videos like this to track my net worth-mostly for my personal motivation/as a hobby. I’m getting married in May and aiming to grow my net worth as close to $150k as possible by then (without including my car). For now, I’m living with my parents until May, working a stable job and running a small business/side hustle that makes $200-500/week. Here’s where I stand currently: Assets: $62,500 in individual stocks/ETFs/MM funds (taxable brokerage), $24,500 in Roth IRA, $24,000 in HYSA (Robinhood cash sweep), $4,500 in checking account/cash, $17,000 car (2021 Toyota Corolla - paid cash), Roth 401k kicks in this pay cycle and will be contributing 6% with 6% match ($720/mo) Liabilities: $700 balance on my credit card (autopay scheduled for Friday) Net worth: $114,800 ($131,800 with Car) I'm also looking to buy a house soon and am curious to know what your strategy for getting a downpayment together most efficiently is. I'm currently investing over 50% of my income every paycheck because my expenses are so low currently. I'm thinking about reducing this investment amount closer to 15-20% and prioritizing getting together a large cash downpayment together until the end of 2025. It helps hearing someone else's perspective as a good friend from college is the only person I can be open with that is in a similar net worth situation to myself. Dude you’re doing great for your age. Also congrats on scaling the side business to 200-500 a week that’s always been a goal of mine. You should definitely start a series tracking network worth. I’d be eager to hear your positions and outlook. I’m always interested in hearing other perspectives. As for the house situation. It’s hard to give too much advice as I personally haven’t gone through it yet and there’s so many factors to take into consideration like Cost of living, average house price, marriage status etc…. Based on my income I’ve essentially determined a max amount I’d like to spend for a total PMI. Based on that I determined approximately what house I can afford. In terms of type of house ideally I’d want something that I can get under market price with some rehab work so I can force equity into the place and I’d rent one room like I said in the video. The primary reason for wanting to buy is right now my rent is essentially “disappearing” so if possible I’d rather spend that money towards paying down a house. It sounds like this cost proposition is different in your case as you’re living with parents. In my area I can also find a 3bed 2 bath for around 200k, whereas if you’re in California where houses cost like 800k average, your calculation is going to look a lot different. For downpayment, my area is in a buyers market so I could likely get away with a 5% or 10% down payment which is the route I’ll go. And based on a 200k house thats like a 10-20k down payment. I’ll probably pull some of my crypto (since my position size is getting too large) or pull some money from my 401k since I believe you’re allowed to pull out 10k without incurring a penalty. I still haven’t fully figured it out so obviously take what I’m saying with a grain of salt. Let’s keep in touch. Im always down to bounce ideas off each other. Generally good advice except for the huge holding in crypto. Better not touch crypto. And definitly build out that full emergency fund. To say you dont wanna hold much cash because you see it as riskier as holding crypto is crazy... My split at 23 is 90k in stocks and ~70k in savings.

To each their own. I’ve done my research and I feel pretty good about my BTC holdings. But yea I agree the emergency savings is definitely my priority right now. I think the book lifecycle investing shaped my risk tolerance to some extent so I feel a little more comfortable being heavy investments. Good stuff tho man ~160k is an unreal amount at 23. You’re doing a great job

@JachinClarke my problem is not with being heavily invested. Its crypto specifically. Its okay if you wanna buy into it, but i think as advice its terrible. But yeah risk is definitely very interesting while being young. I took on a lot of risk and was very lucky. That's pretty much required to have 100k in early 20s. I worked part time during my education to pay tuition and saved and invested my 0% interest federal student loan. I also was pretty much all into the market during the giant bull market of 2020. I dont recommend that, but it paid off.

Thank you man! Everyone’s got a different time frame though. I’m sure they’re plenty of people “ahead” or “behind” me but at the end of the day it’s just enjoying the process.

Age 22 net worth -$6900 not including truck I’ve barely started tracking my net worth 2 months ago and I was able to get it from -13,700 to what it is today, congrats on the 100k net worth

Dude that is massive improvement in just 2 months! Good shit. There are plenty of people who don’t understand money at 22 so you’re doing better than most. Keep at it man it’ll scale way faster than you think.
