Don Rich at his very best here. Oh that harmony. When I heard these songs on radio, I thought Buck had at least 3 backup singers. It was just him and Don.

This is one of my favorites. The Wife likes the simple arrangements. She’s very wise, heh. Robert Earl Keen’s Rabbit Hole is endlessly entertaining. Jahgov sent him my way.

I heard someone once when they sang this song where it says, "you come home straight, and you come home curly," was changed to "you come home straight, and you come home surly." I like the word surly because it means..... menacing or threatening in appearance: irritably sullen and churlish in mood or manner: crabbed. I think this word fits much better than curly. A person can be normally surly, but how are they curly?
@kennytheworm
@kennytheworm 5 ай бұрын
Hey,@@georgeforyan113. I think that’s part of the genius of John Prine. ‘Surly’ is too easy. ‘Curly’ is creative, and also appropriate, in a bunch of different ways. Thanks for listening!
@georgeforyan113
@georgeforyan113 5 ай бұрын
@@kennytheworm Genius or not, John Prine was a great songwriter, but to take the words, "Come home straight or of curly," Yeh, I can see the straight part, but the only thing curly I know of is my hair

Well, Sinatra didn’t really ’Get a Kick’ out of her. And The Beatles didn’t really do ANYthing ’Eight Days a Week’, ya know? Literal has no business in music. It’s poetry. And, The Answer, My Friend, is not REALLY Blowing in the Wind.
