I keep hearing seaweed farmers say they believe it is the future and want to see the industry grow but I cant find information on how to actually start a farm. The real information, not the PR stuff about how great it is, but things like how to actually get a permit to farm a bay, necessary boat features, line lengths etc.

If you're in the states, contact your state's Department of Natural Resources or Dept of Fish and Wildlife. Either of those orgs should have contacts for you to get started.

Well done Sara, I wish to be educated and trained by a passionate and devoted person like you! It would be great to be able to cultivate organic seawhead in developing countries in Africa before they apply cultivating it irresponsibly! I hope to have the honor of knowing you and explore opportunities for collaboration. Best wishes from Atef 0031618996835 [email protected]

How to you deoxygenate or ensure oxygen in these systems?
@janusecornelius
@janusecornelius 3 жыл бұрын
there are several ways, you can use an aerator which is the easiest way to go. there are some oxygen diffusers, or you can make a venturi system out of PVC

Are Tilapia legal to keep for None commercial Breeders? I have a home aquaponics system which I would like to use to raise Tilapia as a hobby. Where would the average hobbyist find a source for Tilapia Fingerlings?

Do I need to have a license
@stephaniefgeary
@stephaniefgeary 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, in Alberta you will need to have a license to keep Tilapia. There are different types of licenses depending on whether you will be selling the fish or not. An inspection is required to get started. The cost of the license is very small.

How much.? Fee for it?
@stephaniefgeary
@stephaniefgeary 3 жыл бұрын
@@vermacho8505 It depends if this is your first year or not. I think that it is somewhere between $10-50 to get a license for just keeping them yourself without selling them.
