In late January 2020 we attempted to summit Yushan. It snowed the day before. Past the cabin at about 3200 meters in elevation the snow was getting pretty deep, nearly 100cm. The snow drifts just before we reached the summit were too high so we decided to turn back right as the sun rose. Bummed we didn’t summit but it was the most gorgeous sunrise I can remember. determined to summit next time!

Hi, Johannes, Such a beautiful vibrant culture. One question, do you happen to know the best way to encounter these people? I'm a photographer living in Taiwan and I'm currently documenting the life and traditions of the local population. Of course, this would be awesome to photograph. Cheers

Thanks! I would have suggested contacting the Taroko Village place where this event took place, but because of the recent earthquake, the village is no longer in operation. I would need to do a bit of research to find any contact. Another problem is that the people who attended this event are from different tribes and different places in Taiwan, so it's not like they can be found in one single place.

i might have missed it in the video, but may I ask where did you all depart from to reach this place? a day trip from taichung? or? thanks so much!
@Taiwaneverything2 ай бұрын
@@chowzisiong7800 We actually did this in one day from Taipei, which is not recommended. Better to stay in Aowanda itself or somewhere else in Nantou.

I summited the Jade mountain once. It was really a once in a life time experience. When I went back for a similar trek to Linzhishan, the sole of one of my hiking boots fell apart, and it started raining and I even got pommeled by hail. Sadly that was the last time I went back to Jade Mountain National Park. I wish I can get back there soon.

The eastern coast of Taiwan, further ahead, is the sea cliff, which can easily be carried into the deep sea by seawater if not careful
@Taiwaneverything7 ай бұрын
Not sure what cliff you are referring to. You mean Qingshui near Taroko?
@user-kb8jg8fv6d7 ай бұрын
@@Taiwaneverything Taiwan is located at the junction of the Pacific Plate and the Eurasian Plate, and is affected by plate movements. The eastern coast is mostly characterized by steep terrain beneath the water surface, rather than a gentle continental shelf suitable for water activities

Hi, can I know if you drove up to home sweet house homestay? Reason for asking is because I was wondering if there is seating available on the Alishan shuttle bus/tourist bus down to Chiayi station from Xi Ding stop or lucin stop.

Yes, we drove ourselves. No idea if those buses ever get full. My guess is not, but that’s just a guess.
