I've made Trunk many times before. Here's how I adjust the pattern to work. First, make his arms bigger by adding another stitch to your bobble. Second, I follow the shell pattern until row 5, then I fit it on the turtle. I use these fitting to adjust not only the depth of the shell but also the placement of the straps and how far apart to make them. I also adjusted for shaping around the neck. I would't assume their pattern fits your turtle. Make it yours!

I've made about 3 dozen pickles and 4 or 5 large pickles. Yes on your way up the pickles I was very careful with the eye placement.... But I've made enough hats the closing wasn't harder. Love those pickles. I've made the gecko... So cute. I've also made the elephant... Mine didn't stand up right and was larger than the pattern. And the loaf cat...❤❤❤. Love that kitty. Both of my granddaughters love them. Your doing great. Keep on crocheting. Try Rose and Lilly's patterns. Very easy and cute.

I think the difference in the way the stitches look could be due to technique used. Do you yarn under yarn over, or yarn over yarn over? I self taught and didn't realize I was doing yarn under yarn over, and I've read that this makes your stitches look tighter
@yarnofakind
@yarnofakind Ай бұрын
I did suspect it might be something like that! I do yarn under yarn over too because it feels most natural for me, and I generally keep my tension tight. Thank you for weighing in!

The patterns are all so cute! What type of crochet hook did you use prior? I would love to see your opinion on different hooks. I've gotten a few beginner sets, but after scouring on youtube for reviews I've chosen to get a set of clover amours and I love them so much! Ergonomic grip, narrow tapered tip and really smooth aluminum. Now I come to think of it: Elise Rose of le petit saint crochet (I think) did a thoroug review of crochet hooks. Definitely recommend watching that if you're looking for nice hooks! Edit: it wasn't a hook review video actually, it was a video where her husband tried to crochet with a woobles kit and they investigated why some hooks feel so different from each other. So half way through the video they measure the surface area of different hooks with a profilometer which was really informative to me! Here's the video if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWfHYaRqaKeKiZIsi=LOqGKHPBixY09EOS

Trying out other hooks and investing in quality tools is a must when you crochet a lot, but you do need a budget to go for it! Also perfect to ask as a gift imo, especially when going for a set because then it will feel extra special imo!

Congrats on winning :) Your beetle-girl is so adorable :) If no children will be playing with it, I would suggest using floral pins. I first used them on my fall pumpkins that I crochet so I can arrange the leaves and other ornaments without having to sew. Also, for gnomes to swap out different hats with goodies for the holidays. Those floral pins sort of look like staples, and do not cost a lot either. I couldn't remember what they were called so looked them up, and Hobby Lobby has 100 for $2.49. I think I bought mine from the Dollar Tree. Thanks for another interesting video.
