Dante was never stupid, his problem is that way too cocky for his own good that and he kind of mentally checks out sometimes.

The thing is, when you actually do the math and find out how truly powerful dante and vergil are (which some guy on youtube made a video on it i dont remember their name) you realise none of these games make any sence, dante could probably explode the hole planet with minimal effort, yet he loses in a fight against half of his brother, which he effortlessly beats later despite him having consumed a fruit that made mundus so strong they barely beat him, how? By using a sword his dad gave him, which was supposed to be worse than the yamato, nothing really makes sence in the dmc franchise, but its still awesome

It is ridiculous to me that Royal Guard was never really shown in any cutscene. I guess it is a very .. videogamey thing, which doesn't actually make sense, but it'd seriously be so sick. Someday when I got a PC I really would like to try 2d animate a Royal Release in slow motion

Same with Trickster. Dante uses it in DMC4 cutscenes as a showy thing but never again. He can rapidly teleport but chooses to run at things in cutscenes. Man forgot he's not a normal human.

@@shadovvwolfie790 In DMC5 there's two parts where Dante enters a scene "with a teleport" (Beginning of mission 13 and beginning of mission 18 cutscene I think), but with both of those they make it look more like there's some special effect over him landing after a long fall instead of an actual instant transmission. It makes it really weird, cuz I wonder what he can "canonically" really do. Also yeah, him running at shit like V combining with Urizen is always the dumbest shit when you think about what he's actually capable of

I think Dante just didn't want to kill Vergil and allowed him to be resurrected. When V goes to the defeated Urizen, Dante just runs after him. Man, did he forgot that he can teleport?

Royal guard is explained that focuses the entire demonic power of Dante into one spot to make it virtually indestructible, however.... Thats the catch his entire demonic power , so if the other demon is stronger they can use more demonic power to get through it (which its basically impossible since Dante and Vergil at the end of the game out scale anything in the verse by a long shot) By this point dante was far far weaker than urizen so doing Royal guard will do three shits sincd urizen has more demonic power to get through it
