heya awesome video i use audacity for spoken word and it works pretty well umm i saw the video and wanted to say thank you the record a song from scratch series really helped i didnt obsess over drums this time used a basic loop mapped out the song sections didnt have the lyrics for everything but instead of getting hung up on it and doing nothing i yabbled my way through the song one section at a time and got a solid 3 minute structure recorded with input fx so it sounds like a song and the fact that i can do even this being blind is awesome. im now hoping to replace and add tfe parts one by one and finisf the song sometime soon so thank yoo. i also heard your christmas ep and its super awesome christmas everyday is my favorite. reduced my js plugins tr 16 as well as yoo said it really help to have limited options.

I prefer the original in Come As You Are, definitely... .. I kinda feell like it's not SUPPOSED to be clean... I love how when he hits the bendy chord, it just kinda dissolves into beautiful chaos..... In the remaster, it's just a bendy chord..

Recently upgraded to sd3. Have used ezd2 and 3 since they came out. Sd3 capabilities are way better. Especially if using edrums. I do like the user interface better on ezd3 and hope at some point they update sd3 in a similar way.

Quanting isn't the reason for the downfall of rock. The real reason is the older bands rehearsed endlessly, played everywhere they could equalling to hundreds if not 1,000 of gigs. Bands became one well oiled machine from playing together so long. The singers develop and perfect their sound over years of rehearsals and live performances. Rock music has been quantized for over twenty year. With many great sounds. The greatness come from recording bands that perform as one unit. The last couple generations do not put the time in that bands use to put in. And that is the big difference you are hearing. Everybody's missing the big important issue. You can't have a great organic band to record. Unless they put in the work bands use to do. That's where the magic came from. Bands aren't developed the same way. Everything is thrown together, to make the quick buck. It's not about the development of great bands. That's the biggest change. Also on top of that, 75 percent of a great drum sound come from the room it's recorded it. It all adds up to the problem. Bands not being developed over years and becoming one, not using real guitar amps and real drums in good rooms, because the room is part of the sound. Griding drums is the least of the problem. It's much more than that.. Great video!! 🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍

Comparing Butch’s original mix (aka Devonshire Mix), vs Andy Wallace’s mix (what ended up being Nevermind), you can tell the real hero was Andy Wallace. Imo, Butch’s mix lacked power, and the guitars weren’t as punchy, and the vocals sounded removed from the music. I’m glad they had Andy Wallace come in for the original mix.

Some of you nerds have no idea what the words "raw" and "unmixed" mean. Andy Walrus did way more shit to the recording than Butch Vig did. Yes, you can hear the gating on Vig's mix because he didn't use drum samples. Wallace put the same one-shot snare sample over every snare hit that coincided with loud hihats, which was a major problem for Dave Grohl and why he used that extra tall Sonor hihat stand to try to minimize the hihats in his snare mic. Wallace mixed the snare sample with white noise and tuned the white noise to the song, giving it a longer reverb tail and using that to cover over the gate. Butch could have got a better and more natural snare sound with an expander rather than a hard gate, but for one reason or another he didn't. As far as the snare rolls go, Andy Wallace rides those faders up and down throughout the whole song. Butch doesn't ride the faders like that, so Dave's snare rolls sounded more robotic like they do in live performances. Dave didn't drum with nuance, he just hit as hard as he could. Andy rode the faders to compensate for that, which Butch didn't do. And in Come As You Are, Andy slammed the guitar, bass, and vocals through a digital Yamaha SPX90 on the symphonic chorus setting. That's on top of the Electro Harmonix Small Clone already present in the mix. The chorus you hear in Butch's mix is all Small Clone.

Andy also rode the fader's, so his automation in the proper places, based on his preference, always brings about a different feel. I always took his approach as focusing on the energy build up and release with any material he worked on. Also I don't know if the band was in the room as Andy mixed it, as they were with Butch. This could have made Butch make choices he might not have to serve the bands preference. Don't think Andy does that as he mixes. Its the bands art, so the mix should be the way they want it in the end, if not, you are just rolling down the sell out path.

Logic Pro supports all of them, they contain AU as well as VST plugins. Depends what kind of metal sound you want, but I find the Death Metal kit and Dark Matter give a full sound for metal. You will get a much better sound outputting as individual channels and mixing in your DAW rather than just a stereo out on on track.

@@banditalley9592 Thanks for your reply! I like the sound of eZdrummer 3 for modern metal and it's nice to be able to hear the drums in channels A and B in stereo pan. Do you use an external hard disk to load eZdrummer and not take up so much space on your PC? With an i7 and 16 GB PC I have no problems using the library or is it better to put the drum an pulgins library on an external hard disk? Last question, which midi controller do you use to drive eZdrummer midi keyboard or pad which model? Thanks in advance

Not every snare needs to sound like a shotgun. I hear ya. I tunned out of KZbin music production because of how most of these channels mostly talk about heavy metal. Just like you, I love that music but I'm listening to smoother rock, pop, reggae etc... More these days. I'm 40 now you can only scream about anything for so long Beards and gear was the first channel I listened to but it is the first channel that made me go :"wait, no matter the guitar, pickup, plugin, amp sim, impulse response whatever, it all sounds the same."

@harlycorner
@harlycorner 22 күн бұрын
I'm sorry but this video is complete nonsense. I have actually rebuilt couple of condenser mics that use 48 volt phantom power. There is no mechanism by which you could damage your mic If you plug it in or out while the phantom power is on. Phantom power supplies "inject" the DC power into the mic signal wires through high impedance resistors (typically 6.8kohm), as condenser mics need ridiculously little current to work. And because of that, the current limiting residtors protect your mic also from sudden supply capacitor diacharge into the mic. And in case you're not familiar with electronics, 6.8 kilohm resistor is limiting current so much that you couldn't get a LED to light up through it. And most importantly, Phantom power has been designed this way to be compatible with dynamic mics. Meaning that you can plug in your regular dynamic mic into your mixer or audio interface while phantom power is on, and nothing is going to happen to it. Theoretically, you could damage your loudspeakers, as plugging the condenser mic in often results in a loud "pop" Phantom power, however, is guaranteed to damage ribbon mixrophones. But when it comes to those mics, there's no difference whether you block them in while quantum power is on or whether you plug them in before switching it on. Either way those mics will die when you accidentally power them.
