I’m thinking maybe you can add a suit of mail to your wish list for feeding Jonesie! Sorry to hear about your farm troubles with the cold. Praying you can get the side by fixed. The eggs looked great. So we were attempting to drive up a hill similar to yours. It was a sheet of ice, made it almost to the top, then had to back/slide down iand back up the road across the dam for a lake with no guard rails. God was so good and protected us. Turns out GPS sent us on a road that’s not maintained in the winter, no signs to indicate that. Phew! Val C ❤️🙏🏻

A question…just because I have no clue and even though I’m 59 I have never been that close to a chicken that didn’t come from the grocery store. I’m wondering if your hen that was not the Cornish cross if that hen would have been typical of what chicken was back in say my grandparents era? Because I know I’ve had some chicken breasts that are almost as big as a small turkey’s breast and I just wonder if that’s not the best meat to be eating. Of course it’s from the grocery store and who knows what kind of chicken it was or how it was raised. Only because I live in downtown Toronto and can’t get anything better. I love the idea of moving to North Carolina and staying in one of your long term rentals and helping on your farm. My husband and I would never be able to buy a homestead of our own but we are hard workers and I do a lot of pressure canning and I have grown my own food with hydroponics. I have a Facebook page called armchairgardener (realized what an oxymoron title that was after starting it) but I had tons of luck growing food year round in nutrient rich water. My husband and I built a DIY continuous flow system, and it allowed me to grow more then 98 plants at one time and I did a lot of herbs and various kinds of lettuce. In totes I grew sweet pepper trees that were over eight feet tall and four feet wide. The peppers were unbelievable I was hand pollinating them and I also grew an enormous tomato plant that produced all kinds of tomatoes. I would love to come for a visit and to see what your farm is about and see if we would be a good fit. But again it would be something that we would have to see what’s possible. Cause I’m not getting any younger and my husband is a few years younger than me.

What a blessing that you were able to pull up most of the buried wire by hand. I like how you don't rush around. My husband installs wells and pump systems and occasionally has to find a break in the wire. He recommends putting shallow bury electrical wire in conduit to protect it from breakage whether it be from putting a fence post thru it (done that) or driving over it. Unfortunately it is costly, which is probably why the previous owner didn't do it. I really like your background music, it is very soothing.
