This is disgusting. The purpose of calf tying is to be able to stabilize a calf for medical treatment, and I get that…but to do this as a “sport” is animal abuse. I cannot be convinced otherwise when these calves are having their necks jerked, being thrown to the ground, and getting tied up. I cannot imagine how frightening this must be to them. If this was done to a dog, people would be up in arms. Going to also note here that no, I’m not a PETA donating vegan. I eat meat and believe that animals are a food source. That being said, I don’t believe on the cruelty that animals endure in this process through big farm corps either and will only purchase meat from farms that pasture raise their animals and let them grow naturally. But I digress; this “sport” is astoundingly abusive.

It doesn't look very relaxing for horse or rider! What's the deal here? What's the end goal? It can't be nice for the horse, he's not liking the person on his back. Surely horse riding should be a little more enjoyable than this? BTW I have no knowledge or understanding of this activity, it just looks wrong to me!

I’m sure common rebuttals would say these animals are handled safely, however, as I see it this is animal abuse. These poor creatures are play toys used beyond their utility common to their biological function as ruminants. Without no other alternative expression: this is atrocious. Likewise, I do appreciate sport in and of itself which is entirely different from the object of this sport but how do we call this-chasing, choking and rendering a yearling bovine animal immobile-entertainment? So wild. And I eat beef. Thanks.

It's simple.. high testosterone levels but lack of "size" down in the pants turn these clowns into bullies. If they had the right size of tools they would find a wife to love and they would be so busy they wouldn't have these ridiculous hobbies. They are basically trying to balance out an insecurity..

@@fionacowan2426 your experience over there doesn't mean anything if you've never been around a true bronc horse. Owning and taking care of a rodeo bucking horse is not the same as taking care of your normal broke trained saddle horse in any way. Once you step into the realm of bucking horses and the arenas they perform in, you're literally dealing with a completely different beast.

I'm honestly astonished by you right now, you've never been around true Rodeo bucking horses and yet you call yourself an expert on this kind of equine activity all of a sudden.

I never said i was an expert on bronco horses at all i was simply saying i own them and not some city slicker with an opinion and your right my experience over here dosent mean anything cause theres a reason why wee dont have rodeos thankfully as it wouldnt be tollerated by the RSPCA or the public i know its a way of life over there and creates jobs but Using animals including bulls in this way for human entertainment is not right and no education as you put it will ever make this right so in my eyes the education should be your side of the pond but dont hold out much hope in making anyone over there seeing sence about anythin when a 3yr old can shoot a gun 😬 and an ambulance costs 5000 dollars but you enjoy your rodeo n all the best buddy👍

Because they train every day, cowboy and horse and they are basically one unit You'd be amazed at what you can teach a horse to do with patience They basically train the horse to stop as soon as the cowboy hits the ground (it being an easy thing for the horse to recognize as it has less weight on the saddle)

You can see when he comes out of the chute that one of the guys had something in his hand, probably a tazer/prod. They shock these horses to make them buck.

That's not true at all, these horses will indeed Buck on their own. The prod actually does serve a purpose. It doesn't matter how safe they're designed and made, the risk of injury for both the horse and the rider is higher inside the chute. Therefore the prod is used to get both the horse and Rider out of the Chute as safely and quickly as possible, rather than the animal jumping up and getting both itself and the rider hurt on all that steel. I personally would rather get shocked by a prod then hit by something metal. What about you?

Most calves are only heeled (lasso around heel) and not tied down for branding by rancheres, cause even they consider it cruel. This is just pure abuse of the calf around the neck. Yes cattle are tough, dosent mean you gotta yank them by the fucking neck
