Hey, Well enjoyed🙌! I'm not really sure if it is the best time to ask but, I was wondering if I could help you create a better distribution by working on post-production like better storytelling through Edits, Keywords, think catchy intros and outros, or even some engaging short clips! Would love to chat if you're interested and keep creating good content:)

Thanks for the comment! These are all valid points, but for videos from in-person presentations there is only a limited wiggle room. If a video is filmed for publication, it is possible to take multiple takes of a scene, and pick the best one. For a pre-recorded presentation it is only possible to remove the irrelevant bits. The videos published on the channel are already heavily edited, all of them are trimmed to the point where only the bits relevant to the topic are left. As for intros, in general they are a waste of time, and (thankfully) most creators ditch them, or trim to just a few seconds. We have an outro, but barely anybody watches it.

Would not the typical green-CRT Anritsu or Hameg units, or something like a Tektronix 7L... plugin or 49x, or similar units that have been sold secondhand for 800 bucks -ish prices for a long time, be the closer comparison?

Really awesome video! I have done some PCB hand dremmeling in the past, but I have not used the Manhattan construction technique. I'm surprised this is able to work so well for RF stuff considering how large it is, and all of the component leads. It makes me want to make similar systems. It could be a fun way to construct a modular synthesizer or something

Spent the afternoon today at a park attempting to participate in the Virginia QSO Party as a mobile, at 2,400 ft above sea level. Back home with a log full of 7 contacts. Seven contacts from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM. As with most contests, really a playground for the big guys. I have neither amplifier, nor 100 foot tower, nor 80 meter capability, nor dipole higher than 23 feet-so… not really fun. Unless you’re in the six-figure-points-total crowd, it’s like entering the Indianapolis 500, in your Chevy Nova. Somebody suggested “go for a new personal best… try to decrease your time for 4 laps… then go home.” Unless you’re a fanatic, lots of other things you can do on a spring Saturday are more fun. Preceding just MY story-probably not YOURS-but I’m sticking to it.

Hey, submit your log anyway, even with 7 contacts! You still will be 7 contacts better than the logs with 0 points! And if you are in VA, even 0 points will earn you a beautiful certificate, which you can hang on the wall :)

Thanks for the nice comment! If you are in the US, in many places public libraries offer access to 3D printers. You can also try to ask in your local club if anyone could print a winder for you, or contact a nearby makerspace.

Excellent presentation. I'm curious, you used 18awg copper magnet wire, do you know if 16awg could be used with an FT240-43 transformer? I know it might be a little stiffer to wind but might it otherwise work?
@ViennaWirelessSociety8 ай бұрын
It depends. Thicker wire has lower resistance, what will reduce resistive losses in the windings. On the other hand, thicker wire means smaller distance between windings, what can increase losses caused by inter-winding capacitance. Probably the best way of figuring out is to build two identical transformers, and measure them connected back-to-back. MM0OPX has a great demonstration of loss measurement using this method: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iovNimWAntJqnLs Of course the winding has to fit on the core, but I don't think it will be a problem in your case.

@@ViennaWirelessSociety I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thanks!
@ViennaWirelessSociety8 ай бұрын
@@gsudman It is worth noting, that the gains from increasing wire diameter will be limited by skin effect. According to the graph in wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_effect#/media/File:Skin_depth_by_Zureks-en.svg), at 1MHz the current penetration depth for copper is ~0.07mm. This means that the decrease of wire resistance will be proportional to the wire circumference (i.e. wire diameter in the first power), instead of the cross-section area (i.e. diameter squared), what is a case for DC currents. On the other hand, FT240 is such a large core, that the increase in losses caused by capacitive coupling. I think this is a great excuse to do some for some experimentation, and share the results :)

Forgot to mention - the audio output on the tinySA makes it a WB receiver, just like SDR, with the waterfall display as well.

Good information. Note every furnance is the same however so one has to really consult the proper documentation and resources. Here you are not allowed to do any work or modifications to a furnance/AC. Warrenty, home insurance and gas company fines or void insurance. Not something we can do here.

@ViennaWirelessSociety11 ай бұрын
This channel is not monetized. If you see ads, blame KZbin. We don't get a single penny out of what YT shows to viewers.
@WECB64011 ай бұрын
Agreed. I wonder why there were so many ads on this single video and just the normal 2 on most others. I hope you monitor and watch your videos via an outside account to see just how many commercials are inserted. PS. I subscribed and gave a thumbs up. Best 73@@ViennaWirelessSociety
@ViennaWirelessSociety11 ай бұрын
@WECB640 Without monetization we have no control over how many ads are shown, and where. It is completely up to YT's advertising algorithm to show them. Apparently, it's decided that this topic is popular enough to stuff the video with ads. This is sad, but there is nothing we can do at this point.

What would the effects on performance be if you modified this using PVC of greater diameter, effectively shrinking the length even more.? Just thought a long stealthy antenna could be built by wrapping copper tape directly around a wooden telephone pole 12 inches or so in diameter.
@ViennaWirelessSociety Жыл бұрын
I can't tell what would be the effect of increased diameter, but a soggy, wooden telephone pole would greatly increase losses.
