My favorite part is that one girl who noticed when she first met him that the first thing he did every time he came online was run. The same path every time. She didn't get it cuz she didn't know that he couldn't use his legs and he couldn't run in real life.

I watched the documentary and CRIED. I am not a gamer and yet, I was profoundly impacted. He made a difference and cared deeply for others. There is one part of the film towards the end where he expresses the fear that his life has not mattered and his friend in the game breaks down all the ways he has made a difference… when I tell you, I sobbed bc I think there are a lot of people who sometimes feel this way. And yet we may not even realize the impact we are making and it starts and ends with being a part of a meaningful community. And whether you find that community in person or online, we can make a difference by being kind. So simple but profound. The film has stayed with me. Makes me want to be a better. ❤

He was a good guy and a good friend. I had the joy to know him as I was in the same guild as him and share many great moments and adventures and talks together. If he know how much his short lived story would have impacted people world wide, he would probably have thought it unnecessary and even silly. He was that humble of a guy.

I just watched it. Not only a moving story, but it brought back so many wonderful memories of friendships that I made in WoW back in the day. What I wouldn’t give to be able to reconnect with them again. We used to have so much fun together! I tried playing WoW again recently, but how people interact with each other has completely changed. Almost every guild that I would join required that you communicate through Discord or something of the like. Since those days, I’ve lost my hearing and now wear bilateral cochlear implants. It’s very difficult for me to effectively communicate through voice chat. A lot of guilds won’t even let you raid if you’re not on voice chat. WoW can be a lonely world without social interaction. 😢

I just shared the trailer of the movie on FB with my oculus group. You never know what is behind that voice and headset. Loved the movie and really makes you think.

Back in the day, I knew the people of Starlight. My guild, Stormwind Academy, was allied with them, to do content both out guilds were too small to tackle on our own, so yes, I have played with Ibelin, though I didn't get to know him very well. Sadly I contracted a pain condition, which has left me handicapped. I remember my first session at the Pain Clinic I had a custom Stormwind Academy tshirt on. My therapist asked me about it, and I thought "Oh no, now I have to hear about being a gamer". But I explained how I found friends and opportunities online, when I could barely walk, and all the other fantastic things the documentary hightlights. Her reply: "Interesting. You're instinctively tried to do, what I am about to teach you". Gaming can be very healthy for you and there are real friends to be found too.

It really made me look at life a little bit differently

It was an amazing documentary, and I felt as impacted as you are right now. I play wow, and the feelings I had from this remarkable young man, just hit me so strong. My whole other world was open and alive, and his story was inspirational. I wish we were all more aware of each other and cared more about each other. The world right now is upside down, I just want to hug everyone in it and make it right again like Ibelin. Fly free Mat, you will be in Azeroth forever.

The worst part is that he eventually couldn’t do for himself what he did for others. It was so sad

I'm gonna sit down with my wife and watch it tonight. Our 6 year old son has autism. I feel like he's more sane than we are, yet our society is so hyper individualistic. It's hard. Thank you for keeping it real, friend✌️
