Criticizing the 4th wall breaks while making a video with constant unfunny cutaways is ironic

Should have tampered down all the cussing and filth...and been more about the Bird vs Magic rivalry. That would've gotten steady views.

Winning time was one of those cases where the studio gave up on it way too fast rather than work on its short comings.

You were right about the music. First season had several P-Funk songs in it. Second had none. That is why viewership dropped. That, and that alone.

For me the second season should've ended on Larry Bird and Magic Johnson's Converse commercial shoot, and the two of them becoming friends. The show had built up the animosity between them in the court or a good while (though it could've had more moments off animosity imo), and even developed Bird more for the audience, and knowing the culmination of both of them disliking each other for so long is to become life long friends could've been great. Or they could've ended the show on what it started with, the relationship between Jerry and Ervin. Have the moment where Jerry Buss comforts Magic after he was diagnosed with HIV like he would one of his sons.

on a fundamental level, HBO should have never considered adapting a book with the same name as their main competitor. it was doomed as soon as they changed the name

I really liked the show. I read the book and knew the people weren’t really like that. It was totally dramatized, but entertaining. The second season was advertised at all. I turned it on one day and it was there. HBO totally screwed that up

Sorry, I thought the fourth wall breaking fit this series because it was already exaggerated to begin with. At least the characters were. It didn't fit Michael Shannon, but it did John c Reilly.

Man I loved this show. Was so looking forward to them doing the 1985 Lakers in season 3 but then it gets abruptly canceled. I know it wasn't completely 100% historically accurate but it's Hollywood. It's a TV SHOW and I thought they did a pretty damn good job, especially with their reenactment of the 1984 NBA Finals. Remember the Kurt Rambis (great actor) "clothesline?" The actors that portrayed Magic, Kareem and even Bird were fantastic IMO. If only they would have done just ONE more season.

Jeanie Buss stated on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson that she was against Winning time, and Magic Johnson stated the same thing when he too was on their podcast. The actually Lakers players of old didn't want that series to be green lit

Agree that the final scene is superb....The bigger issue in Part 6 as a whole is that there's very little "bizarre." The weirdness is what makes parts 2-5 so fun, and that just isn't present here. Also, it really didn't need to be 36 episodes. Great stuff on your channel BTW, looking forward to seeing more.

The show failed because it wanted to be an adult drama AND a crass comedy at the same time. A lot of real life story was changed for the sake of drama, and a lot of real life people were changed for the sake of comedy.

I quite enjoyed it. West being upset with his portrayal isn't living in reality. If they just showed a boring ass white guy sitting with no expression on his face the entire series, it would have bombed. Making him secretly kind of crazy was a genius move. It kept me wondering what is he going to say/do next every episode viewing. All of the people who complained that they weren't portrayed correctly must not have realized that this wasn't a documentary. It was just entertainment.
