I didn't encounter this issue maybe because I used the thicker acrylic glue instead of the water thin type Acrylic mess can be buffed out to some extent I believe

@darrylchase3688
@darrylchase3688 6 ай бұрын
. @yousefshahid Because it shrinks as it cures, creating a stressed joint, and the possibility of failure down the road. In this case, with thin acrylic sheets, using thin solvent and the pin method is better. Even 2-part is better than thick acrylic adhesive.

First of all, thanks for the interesting video. I am interested in such a filter for a vegetated aquarium. I heard that it causes the co2 to come out of the water. If I artificially add co2 can it help so I can also grow aquarium plants?
@DIYSomethingSG
@DIYSomethingSG Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! I unfortunately don't know a whole lot about planted aquariums but can see why it might cause CO2 to escape from the trickle down process It is a lot more aeration than a canister or closed system filter would have

How did you decide on the thickness of acrylic (i.e. 15mm) to use?
@DIYSomethingSG
@DIYSomethingSG Жыл бұрын
I used online an acrylic aquarium thickness calculator It also depends a lot how you brace your top, and mine is essentially 1 large brace with cutouts Think I got it correct since I have no bowing of any sides even though a little bowing is tolerable

Im using 2000L/H pump for my 3 ft aquarium. Can it support the filtration system? Or should i upgrade it to 3000L/H?
@DIYSomethingSG
@DIYSomethingSG 2 жыл бұрын
the flow rate e.g. 2000L/H on your pump is calculated at 0CM pump height so if the maximum pump height is stated as 2meters, and you're pumping up through a 1meter pipe to your filter, you can estimate your "true" flow rate to be 1000L/H best to see if your fish can handle larger flow without struggling to keep up with the current else your fish might get get sucked and stuck to the filter :)
