The fan on my Satellite P875-S7102 is going out. Your process looks simple enough that I could order the fan from Amazon and replace it myself, but don't know if I could pull off the step where the keyboard is removed. Could you explain why this step is necessary?

Just successfully replaced the original 320 GB HD with an 1 TB HD into my sons iMac 24" 2007. You will need those suction cups to get the glas pane off and a No. 8 torx for all the screws. You don´t need the tiny No. 6 torx for the display connector, just gently turn the display sidways and you can access the HD. Start up from the recovery partition (hold the "alt" key) and install the new OS X. Look here: ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+24-Inch+EMC+2134+and+2211+Hard+Drive+Replacement/8968/1

Thanx a lot for that nice and clean guidance. I will do exactly this on my son´s iMac 24" 2007. I remember that good ole times when you didn´t need those suction cups and torx drivers to replace a hard drive. "But things there are a changing..." :)
