Beautifully done. Song has similar meaning for me as for you. Sadly they didn't play it at the Auckland concert I was at this summer.

The set for that Auckland show looked killer though! Shame you didn’t get this though, I imagine the scarcity of tours makes the ones you miss more gutting. Hopefully they go back your way soon. Rumours of them going back in 2025?

@@SamSmithMCR yeah following the setlists, they played it a lot on the North Am part of the tour (almost every night) then seemed to drop it for downunder. Not sure why. Yes they haven't been to NZ since 2014 (2009 and 1998 plus 1995 before that). Always rumours. They do love NZ but it is a LONG way to go.

too much volume at times. otherwise pretty good. i think a less is more approach would work better.....springsteen is incredibly smooth when he sings this.

Fantastic cover!! I suspected you’d cover this at some point! Technical question, how do you choose what key to play guitar & sing? Trial & error for each song or do you know which keys to go to best for you?

I usually shoot for original key unless I want to alter the mood (my version of Breaking the Law by Judas Priest is an example of a time when I’ve tried to do that deliberately, kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYC9lX9sitWHd5osi=jVPpmbQghunvxUIC) If there’s a song I want to do but its original key isn’t within my range, I tend to I sing it a capella in a comfortable register then try and work around that area whilst bringing the guitar back and figuring out the new key. With Dancing in the Dark, I used to do it half a step up from the original key but as I’ve gotten older my voice has changed a bit so I’ve now gone the other way, which is what I’m sharing here.
