Price is on par for the style and what it is. Go bigger if too small for you needs, but seems to be working good so far and plenty of blade options.

Great video with good step by step. Unfortunately when I try manually programming the second channel (or any other) on my Radtel RT 470x...it overwrites the first channel (and all channels that have been assigned)...and so on...like it only has one channel.

Yeah well you shouldn't be even having anything on gmrs without a valid FCC license read the damn packaging that comes in those boxes that these radios come in especially those stupid gmrs FRS blister pack radios that people think they can just turn on channel 15 through 22 without a license well guess what I have caught several people on channel 15 through 22 who are not licensed and I told them they need to get a valid FCC license or face dire consequences

I do think this radio is fairly easy to program, manually. It seems very logical and easy. Set up the VFO frequency as you want to use it, then save it to an empty channel slot. After that you can assign an alpha-numeric name to that channel, with 12 or 13 characters. I have also used both the Radtel & Chip programs. I found Chirp much easier to use. It allows Cut and Paste of entire lines of programming, you have saved from another file. So you can easily load up your new radio.

It does leave many details out. I was able to fill in the blanks & gaps, only because I already own a Baofeng radio, made by Radtel. Some of the features and functions are similar.
@johnroberts6695
@johnroberts6695 11 ай бұрын
So many options...so few buttons. The firmware is primitive compared to the Baofeng firmware, but the battery and power settings are powerful. I'm not a big VFO fan, but this is the most powerful HT I have. I have two meters and three radios. The power settings are as follows: Frequency HIGH MED LOW ---------------------- 140.000 13.75W 7.36W 5.75W 142.725 13.30W 8.71W 3.69W 143.500 13.55W 8.67W 3.89W 144.000 13.61W 7.40W 5.92W 146.355 14.45W 7.31W 3.54W 440.525 10.93W 5.03W 1.86W 442.000 11.36W 5.17W 1.89W 446.252 11.34W 5.24W 2.00W The radio, at MEDIUM setting, is a bit more powerful than most other radios, which run about 4.62W-8W. You most likely won't need the HIGH setting (11W-14W), but it's nice to have in case. The LOW setting fluctuates depending on frequency. Great radio. With a cross band repeater, this thing would be awesome. But you can't have everything. (That's why I like the TYT TH-UV8000 radio the best.) The TH-UV8000's power are: Frequency HIGH LOW ------------------ 140.000 9.22W 6.03W 142.725 9.84W 6.03W 143.500 9.98W 6.05W 146.355 10.40W 6.23W 440.525 10.50W 5.73W 442.000 9.86W 5.68W 446.252 9.57W 5.58W

My power readings were taken with three radios with two meters. They are as follows: Frequency HIGH MED LOW ---------------------- 140.000 13.75W 7.36W 5.75W 142.725 13.30W 8.71W 3.69W 143.500 13.55W 8.67W 3.89W 144.000 13.61W 7.40W 5.92W 146.355 14.45W 7.31W 3.54W 440.525 10.93W 5.03W 1.86W 442.000 11.36W 5.17W 1.89W 446.252 11.34W 5.24W 2.00W The color display is beautiful, but the actual software settings were somewhat basic. It's the most powerful HT I have and, at 3600mAh, the battery is the second most potent battery (the Baofeng UV-5R 3800mAh battery being the most powerful). Keep the antenna away from your head with this thing. My favorite radio is the TYT TH-UV8000 10W because of the cross band repeater, the RT-470 being my second favorite. The third favorite is my Tidradio TD-H6.
