Great video... I had left a comment prior but don't see it. Either way, was going to report back that I did everything in the video and comments, worked for about 5 loads, now suds and water coming out again. Ugh! Totally stumped at this point. Any other suggestions? Was thinking of replacing the drain pump again just to see if that helps.

1:01 Yeah, you can put a screw through a RING TONGUE, but why would you? Doesn't the whole screw then become electrified? Aren't you supposed to put two Ring Tongues together?

Great video! I lubed the mushroom valve and it’s still leaking. I used less than the amount suggested for detergent and HE. Mine only leaks during the spin cycle and it’s just water not really soapy. Any other suggestions?

Same. Found this video and assumed it was fixed. Mine only does this every few loads so I thought it was fixed. Then this morning it did it again. I’m feeling pretty defeated. Hoped that maybe another component to this function might be causing it but I’m just a single woman over here trying to solve these issues lol. Glad I paid a guy to come out for me to only find this video and figure it out. Guess I paid him to unstack my units and open it up for me 🙄

@@ashleyochsankehl3154 so update for me… we decreased the size of our load in terms of how much we would put in and I haven’t had any issues since… Might be worth a shot.

I've had 3 different LG certified appliance repair guys come look at my washer in the last 3 years and not a single one of them even suggested to open up the top of the washer to investigate because the unit is stacked. I was told to use less detergent and switched to HE pods to control the amount of detergent. Thanks for the video, this explanation makes so much sense. Looks like I'll be fixing it myself.

I just checked my mushroom valve and cleaned out gunk from near the opening of the black tube. But I noticed a rectangular surface (about 3” x 1” near the front of the top area. Appears in your video also. Mine seems to be caked with dirt. What is that and do I clean it?

Thanks for this. It's providing a clue to my problem perhaps. I have an LG ventless (combo washer dryer wm3998hba). During drying it puts out A LOT of humidity (along with some smell, like slight burning of lint maybe?). Repair tech came and decided to replace the heating unit-saying it was too hot. But that did not solve the problem. Can wash and dry fine. But we don't dry due to the smell, which I'm pretty sure is releasing some particulates. From other forums, I now understand that this tub vent you showed is likely where the humidity might be coming from, and IMO may be related to the smell as well. And there is indeed a dry stain of soap/water that I see. It's been recommended that we put a lot less HE Detergent, so may try that. But do you think the humidity is related to a problem with the mushroom part?

@ Northern Handy Dad, thank you so much for this vid! I already had a case # opened from LG and I had cancelled it. I have 2-yr. old LG front load washer and after a wash cycle for only 1x king-sized blanket, water came out of the floor on the right front side (facing the washer). I opened the top cover, no trace of leaks. I opened the back panel and there is water on the floor on the left side (facing the machine from behind). There is no traces of water dripping from it's components. The accordion rubber hoses are all good. Then I came to investigate the air vent from LG's youtube vid where common leaks could come from. So I did your fix and lubed the mushroom plunger...and did the 2nd king-sized blanked and not even a trace of water beneath the floor. You're God-sent! Kudos again for helping lots of people who watched this vid. 😊😊

Exactly what happened to us. Washed a king size bed and wife put a lot of soap on that wash, and found soapy water on the floor. Upon further investigation It had traces of water that had come down through that vent. Thank you for such an informative video @northernhandydad

Please don't. WD40 is oil-baed and may make the rubber swell. Also it's at risk of staining your clothes.

Hi. Do you think the problem will come back? After the lub is gone? I have 4 brand new commercial washers having this similar issue. The suppler only told me to advise customers not to use a lot of detergent and I find this absurd and ridiculous.
@northernhandydad
@northernhandydad Жыл бұрын
Using less detergent (and proper "he" detergent) is valid advice. I haven't had to redo this job since the video a couple years ago, even if I do ~6 loads per week.

when to use bullet vs blade connector what is the best situation?
@K03sport

depends on how often you will engage/disengage the two. I know there are insulated spade connecters; the bullet are almost insulated by design...
