That rifle looks like it weighs at the very least 8.5 to 9 pounds, just the barrel and action alone. A 6.5 pound Winchester is a "mountain gun" with short very slim barrel and small action. This is the longest and beefiest action possible. I am sorry but I don't quite buy the "6 lbs" rifle here. Furthermore, a shorter barrell will diminish the speed of the bullet. In the equation to calculate recoil four elements get into play. The weight of the powder charge, (RAW weight of the powder only, not its burning rate as recoil is the same with the same powder weight, recoil impulse is different) the weight of the bullet, the speed of the bullet, the weight of the firearm. It isn't difficult to create a somewhat, comparatively low recoiling load. This is a hand loading proposition to begin with...Not to diminish your effort and the creation of the gunsmith.

Why build a monster caliber in such a light weight rifle? I have several "Thumpers" MRC 505 Gibbs 11lbs, AHR 600 OK 12 lbs. These are both fun guns to shoot, But would not be in the weight class you're building them. Whats your reasoning? Without a brake these calibers would be downright dangerous to shoot with average loads. I don't understand your logic. African guides despise muzzle brakes. Would you shoot any of your rifles without brakes, with medium to full power loads? The loads you're shooting with your 600 are very mild.

They should put that dog up before they shoot that thing. That''s not good for that dog's ears, you can see how it effects him.
@dadajackyo9 жыл бұрын
+eugene bell It's a girl dog, named Daisy apparently, and the dog is going to retrieve what the guy just shot. She wants to go get the bird or whatever she is used to hunting. If the gunshot bothered her, she would run away from the gun, and not get so excited about the whole process.
@carl-ok9gn7 жыл бұрын
not at all true. the dog would kill itself to be loyal to her family. if it hurts your ears it hurts her ears and is completely irresponsible.

I"m no expert but as far as i"ve seen from recoil calculators a standard factory loaded 600 overkill weighing 8 lbs could easily break your shoulder. Were you using hand loads?
@mightypharaoh75867 жыл бұрын
dude nobody is dumb enough to shoot the real load the ones the guides use for protection with break you shoulder, jaw, teeth, and tear it self from your arms at the same time.

How much foot pounds does the 600ne have? Ive shoot 300 win mag in to a oak tree and the tree shook a lot then I shot a 7.62x54r and it went through the tree. Just wondering if you compare 600ne vs 50 bmg would do the same? I guess you would have to use both FMJs to make it fair.

.700cal NE (~12kj) < .50cal 800gr (~20kj) < .950cal JDJ (~62kj). And 62kj of energy is same thing as accelerating human (m=80kg) to the velocity of 40m/s = 64kj.
@Screwital42011 жыл бұрын
Actually they are designed to cause the biggest possible wound to the elephant. If you put the same powder to bullet weight ratio as 12.7x99mm (.50 BMG) to this gun, The gun would break even with full metal jacket round. .50 BMG(~20kj) vs .600 NE (~11.5kj). Its still pretty scary number for 8lbs gun.
