I bet you wish you had a dipping tub. Dip it, and you're done. Save you 20 hours of scraping.
@SokyDesignStudio2 сағат бұрын
There would be a lot of benefit to that BUT it would also affect the glue used in the construction of the piece so any time saved on scraping would be spent on making sure there were no structural issues and repairs needed after the fact. Plus, I kind of like the scraping. It’s almost therapeutic 😂

Thank you for the restoration. NOT every thing needs to be painted.
@SokyDesignStudio4 күн бұрын
I agree! I love a painted piece as much as the next furniture flipper BUT when it comes to vintage and antique pieces, refinishing is always my main goal. Sometimes there is too much damage for restoration and paint is the way to go.

Depression because people should jsut buy modern furniture instead of ruining pieces
@SokyDesignStudioАй бұрын
@ so you’re saying that people should buy new furniture that is full of toxic chemicals and barely any real wood that will end up in a landfill in a couple years because it’s not built to last long? 12 trillion tons of furniture ends up in a landfill every year in the US alone. Refinishing quality furniture is not only a more affordable way to get the look you want in your home, but it’s also environmentally friendly.

Y'all ever see those videos of people " restoring old homes " and it just shows them like putting carpet over original wood tile. And instead of little like button windows or church windows they go ahead and demolish it and put down like a regular window demolish the sliding doors that separate the two living room is creating a curved opening. That's this. But with furniture.

Thanks for sharing/commenting! I was hired by my client to give this stereo new life and that’s what we did. I would MUCH rather paint or refinish a vintage piece of furniture than it end up in a landfill. And at the end of the day, as long as my client is happy then I consider it a win! I do also restore antiques and vintage pieces. I don’t paint everything 😜

@@SokyDesignStudio Ain't meant any rudeness. I understand the effort to always no matter what satisfy the customer it does look absolutely amazing now. It is dumb how some people will just dump something cause it's old or not pretty enough.

To each their own but for me nothing better than the natural wood grains
@SokyDesignStudio Жыл бұрын
I’m a sucker for a natural wood grain! I’ve done multiple pieces where I’ve refinished/restored and kept the wood grain. This particular set was veneer and two different types/colors. So it just wasn’t the right set for wood grain.
