When I was fifteen in about 1975 I lived in Hein Park in Memphis. Jimmy Griffin bought our house. Though I didnt meet him my parents did and he gave them several Bread albums I still have to the day. What a kind man and gesture. He certainly is missed.

Jimmy Griffin's voice is a touch better than David Gates' voice. Jimmy has soul in his voice. David is just more robotic.

Wow. Sang it better than Karen. Both great singers though. Sorry to hear Jim passed away years ago. Fantastic singer, guitar and writer, We'll all miss him as an essential part of Bread and as a lovely man.

Watch the version of Petula Clark singing this song two days after Karen Carpenter died. She also sang it at the Academy Awards for that year. It will definitely bring it some emotions. 🙏💖💓😓

For All We Know was NOT performed by the Carpenters in the movie Lovers and Other Strangers from which this song is originally from. Richard saw the movie and liked the song. Richard nor Karen had anything to do with the movie version which was up for the Oscar and won. So it made sense the Carpenters did not perform at the Oscars. Their version came out in 1971 AFTER the 1970 movie. The Carpenters version was NOT nominated for an Oscar. Additionally, The Carpenters did NOT win an Oscar for the song. Their version is the definitive version, however. Why Petula Clark sang is a mystery. Larry Meredith is the singer for the movie version. In a sense, Meredith was nominated for the Oscar. Not Karen. I seriously doubt the Academy asked The Carpenters if Petula Clark could sing Larry Meredith's song.
