I’d think the cavity filling with air/blood impeding the expansion of the undamaged lung is the issue, and that happens regardless of body position.

@@yodaddy4944 That’s why you turn them on their injured side. It supposedly allows the uninjured lung to function better. Maybe just in a scenario with an evacuation delay. The chest seal mitigates pneumothorax/potential tension pneumothorax. I think the positioning is to mitigate a potential hemothorax. Just what I learned some time ago. Out of the business now, but you never know.
