I have been working as an eBay seller for more than 10 years, but I had a similar case of fraud, it is a shipping label scam. The customer bought a jacket worth over $200.00 from me, after the customer received the coat, he asked for a return under the pretext that he already had such a jacket in his closet, and therefore requested to return the coat, I immediately suspected that it was a possible scam, because who orders a jacket if he already has such a jacket. After a few days, I received information that the package had arrived, but when I checked, I found nothing. I called USPS and explained the case to them, and after 3 days they reported: “The shipper for your item has used the same tracking number for multiple items” I informed eBay in detail about this, and I later got a refund, and the scammer buyer profited, he got a new jacket and over $200.00 back as a refund. I know the username of this buyer is a scammer, but I don't know if eBay did the same to block this buyer and put him under investigation.

what I don't understand is how was the post office employee able to give you a picture of the label if the the package had already been delivered??? that makes no sense....
@sweetaquarius1002 күн бұрын
As mailpieces travel through the USPS network, they go through high-speed sorting machines, which take a picture of the front (the side with the address).

problem is you just taught a bunch of new people how to do this scam.....also in the future you should put the scammers name on blast, though I'm sure that probably wasn't their name to begin with.

This is more than a scam-it's fraud and the police should investigate

This scam effects both buyers and sellers unfortunately. Sellers are the more likely culprits of this type of scam, it's been around for ages and is extremely easy to do, if the fake delivery address is within the same zip code eBay will always side with the shipper. In my eyes the easiest fix eBay can implement is not allowing people to apply their own labels.

It’s as if eBay is just solely run by robots and bots as they have no empathy, or consideration they seem to run from a written script, and do not deviate from it, the seller means nothing at all, whilst the buyer is king and if they find the tiniest, minute crease in a wrapper, or there’s a cold in the cover of say a dvd with slip case, they open a case of item not as described and that’s it, you’ve had it, if it’s a low case dvd you have to pay for the return postage, then on top of that you have to refund them fully, and they’re hoping you decide to just let them keep it and swallow the loss of an item, and not content with a full refund, and the item, they still get to leave you a negative as a scammer ? There is no seller protection, they just spit you out, they don’t care, it’s as if sellers are ten a penny, yet no sellers no buyers, when eBay first started it was a great idea, then they kept twerking it and tweaking it, until it became a Frankenstein version of the platform, I’m glad that in the end, eventually you got sorted, thankyou so much for the time, effort and upload to warn us of these scammers, I think this scammer has done this a few times, opening a few accounts, get the bare minimum feedback and then con somebody, no matter what postage label you try, they have a scam for it, it’s a business to them, they use you as a shopping cart, picking out what they want, to scam and resell, all the best to you from Norman from Scotland 🏴

I was scammed by someone who took the jersey I sold him, swapped out the label that was on the package I sent him, put in on another package, took a picture of it pretending another item was inside, and asked why he received a different item than he was supposed to. I showed the picture to the post office and upon zooming in they noticed the package had a different name and address on it and told me I had been scammed. I called ebay customer service and explained everything to them and sent the picture and to my shock they seemingly took my side and told me I didn't have to refund him. They just told me to call back in a few days. I call them back in a few days and they look back into the case and tell me to just refund him! All because he still "claimed" he didn't receive the item. I was in shock they lied to me and sided with the scammer. I still refused to refund him but I'm sure they forced it anyways. Absolute scumbags!

I would heed warning on how hard press you go into this funnel of fighting eBay. Some scams are just not worth the commitment to pushing in this hard. A lot of it is emotions. The return on investment isn’t great after all the calls, po reports, police reports, emotional trauma. This is just general rule of thumb. It’s hard to scale a business when you have to be this time and emotionally invested. That said, I would’ve considered it for a 700 dollar product.

I had a very similar experience on Ebay, but with FedEx. The criminal seller was selling the same goods with 2 diff accounts (which were closed out right after my purchases were marked Shipped.). My 2 orders tracking said they'd come one day apart. I waited and they didn't come. Ebay said they had to support the seller because FedEx said the packages were delivered. I called FedEx and they said "You are not the addressee for those numbers. You are not our customer." Ebay sided with the criminal seller until I got them to call FedEx, which they DID NOT want to do. I asked the Ebay Rep would he rather talk to FedEx or a Police Detective from my city. The wimp Rep called FedEx. I won the case. Key evidence was the actual address weight, contents of the true package, which FedEx knew and did not match my orders I paid for. Also, the seller's locations did not match either tracking numbers data. FedEx didn't want to help me by talking to Ebay at first, but I reminded them that I am a customer of theirs as a shipper and now I am a victim of a crime which had to be assisted by someone privy to FedEx's customer data. I had to "twist some arms" but I got Ebay and FedEx to chat and I was refunded by Ebay.

I live in the UK i had a similar scam as a buyer a item i purchased never arrived at my address the seller claimed it was delivered to a nearby address the parcel had a UK postcode but not the house number which means the postcode covers 50+ addresses. i was under the assumption printed labels have the full address anyway the item was returned to the DO and sent to the seller after 10 days the item as far as eBay were concerned the item was delivered i did receive a refund eventually.

This happens more often than one may think. It is unfortunate that eBay incompetence is leading way to such scams. What is worse, they are punishing the people who are paying their salaries, the sellers. If the sellers shy away from eBay, they buyers will not keep eBay afloat, they will go under and they will go under real quick.

I am sorry there are dishonest people out there. There was a big story about people getting seeds in the mail that they didn’t order, and this is what they do. I got my first lesson last year when a guy was selling open box Nordic 55lb dumbbells from China, 1/2 price,and free,shipping. He sent the tracking number, and when I got notice it had supposedly been delivered, I knew I had been scammed. Hr sent it via SpeedPak which is a legal size envelope a lot of sellers use in China to send small items. I also called the USPS and they couldn’t give me the address it was delivered to, but was in my zip code and had a pic of a small package, not a 2’x1’x1’ box weighing 125 lbs. I opened a dispute with eBay and they immediately denied my claim saying “seller provided tracking #. I told them the speedpak envelope can only hold up to 5lb and USPS won’t deliver anything over 80lb because of drivers safety.Now I see Facebook Marketplace sellers are doing the same thing.

Ebay is one big scam. It is a bunch of scammers working together. Ebay is in on it. If they were not. They would have a better way of people selling their stuff on Ebay. Someone tried to rip me off and I refused to pay. I tried to explain to Ebay what was going on but Ebay has no way for the buyer to explain themselves. I say it is because Ebay is a big con job and works with cons to rip people off. Prove me wrong. You cannot. Because Ebay will not let you explain if the seller is ripping you off and Ebay will not let the seller explain if they are being ripped off. I say it is cons working together.

Does Fedex or UPS take photos of their return labels along they way? because if not they're gonna move to Fedex or UPS.. i'm currently in a fight with UPS because i bought a set of a boardgame of Heroquest, for 2K. and UPS is DEMANDING i give them my Fucking SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER Via the phone OR email to "Prove it's really me who is getting the Delivery" i know it sounds like a Scam, but its 100% true. they DO ask for this. it IS UPS. but i am NOT giving my SSN over a non encrypted source, to some UPS worker. the UPS worker was INCREDIBLY RUDE to me, and i honestly believe she would steal my SSN. it should be a FEDERAL WORKER asking, or someone at Customs. luckily the Ebay Seller has promised to work with me on this, and he said he will talk to them... if all else fails i told him to request the package back, so he gets his items, i get my money, then i will RE-BUY from him in smaller dollar amounts so they can't do this to me again. but in 2024, with Identify Theft running fucking RAMPANT i cannot. I WILL NOT give some fucking UPS worker my SSN!

My issue is i sold some bills online to a buyer. I mailed them off ontime. He messaged me asked if it was mailed i told him yes the tracking number is on it. A few days later buyer opens a case on me. He gets refunded i get a message my account has been compromised so the order was canceled and buyer refunded. They said not to worry its not my fault. I told them i haven't received my product back. They told me to contact post-office. I did they said the tracking # isnt a post office and they cant. They said to contact ebay. Im having so many problems getting ahold of them. Everytime i click on my item sold it says case is closed theres nothing more that can be done.

EBay is 100% in favour of buyers. In the instance of refunds, all of them should have to go to an eBay office first to confirm that what was sold is in fact being returned. I’m also getting annoyed at buyers purchasing items and never paying for them. There should be a mandatory relisting fee, 5%. Then they’d rethink of no following through with purchase.

Ebay needs to do better with fraud... period... sounds like almost no one is even listening, glad you finally got help 😮 ... as an aside, I ordered some hair clippers $81 from what looked like a legitimate site maybe a year ago, says was delivered... I had to file a claim with my credit card company, tracking showed something was delivered in my town but not my address.. I never saw the actual usps details but maybe my cc company did, the money was refunded to me... Ebay's process is a nightmare sounds like... so this is happening the scammers are scamming 👎
