My brother had a 59 El Camino with a "lopey" 66 Corvette engine and a 4-spd. Rockcrusher? If there was I a time I could go back to just to hear it idle at a stop when I pushed in the clutch.

New hams, find one of these receivers and use it for a couple hours and find out what a smooth operating, beautifully sounding ham rig is like. The CW note on my 75A4 to a Collins speaker was the cleanest, most elegant music you could hear. You do not have to own a Chinese toy to be a ham-- there was an Art Collins era, now sadly passed on.

Love the stove bolts (55-57 Chevys). Had a couple of them 'back in the day' (stock 57 ragtop and a built 55 210 post 2 door). I have that exact same Sun tach mounted in the same place on my 71 Chevelle Malibu 400 ragtop. It's had a residence there for over 40 years and is still working well.

I had a 56 2 dr post that had a bored out 283 that screamed. 3 speed on the floor. That was 1970 or 71. 1970.
@ndchevy4fun Жыл бұрын
Yes the 283 ! ran a power pack 283, 4 speed, 3:55 posi in 55 hard top in 1974-75. it was a fun setup and held it's own.

There is 2 runs in this video, first one was first time with this 327, first time with this deep first gear T-10 and the 4:88 gears. I had now idea what to expect, second run went smoother until the foot feet stuck for the 3-4 shift. Old video but still fun to drive.

@ndchevy4fun Жыл бұрын
Good eye, I was holding the camera in my hand shifting so it move as I moved the steering wheel. My shifting hand was free and I shut the key off to coast. Can see the key is off but not locked. The key or key chain will also show double time in one of the videos back when I had a 350 in this car. Lots of things going on in this car videos. The video with 327 and 4:88 rear gears was the first time I drove this new 327 and had installed the 4:88 gears in the rear. It broke loose in first and I didn't really have a plan when to shift was just listing to the way the engine sounded. I get so many comments about not power shifting and lifting BS. Just think about it, first time out and you should power shift? anyway it is a fun car and has seen a lot of changes in the past 40 years. Oh yea a solid cam would make 8 grand shifts. Normal shifting is at 6k for 1-2 and 7k for the 2-3 shift. Then back to 6 for the 3-4 shift. This is a 1980 Z-28 tranny with deep first gear. Not a close ratio. So that's why the tack drops to Zero.

Haha, my dad was right lol, those 327’s were fast, my grandpa had a 1966 Pontiac Beaumont Sports Deluxe Coupe A Body in that dark wine red same body style as the chevelle, gto and lemans but it was only built for Canada basically the pontiac version with chevelle headlights, grandpa put a chain around the front deck one of the house’s my dad grew up in, in Ontario, Canada with that car and ripped it right off the house with a heavy duty chain hahaha 🤣.

I love this video! It really doesn’t take much to wake up a 327. I just added a 268 comp cam and edelbrock intake to my ‘67 327 with the stock 1:94 valve double hump camel heads. Then I swapped out the 2:73 rear gears to a 12 bolt 3:31 and Muncie M20. In my big ‘67 Impala coupe it sure moved (not as insane as yours though).

A man after my own heart, Collins, Central Electronics, McIntosh. I have the same 75A-4/200V setup and run the audio through my C26 to my MC2505. Sounds great! I need to hook up my R-390A to the Mac via the “diode load”, but haven’t got around to it yet.
@ndchevy4fun Жыл бұрын
My favorite receiver the Collins 75A-4. I picked up the CE200V at Dayton Ham Fest 2008 and spent a whole winter bringing it back to life and up to spec. Fun station along with my GDT’s the 75A-4 and KWS-1 make for lots of HF fun. I run a Collins R-390A with my T-368 but used Heathkit stereo with it on the rear diode to listen Angel Music. Bought my C28 and MC2100 new 1975, it is a wonderful sounding setup!
@AmishSpecialForces Жыл бұрын
I don’t have a T-368, but I have three R-390A’s, an R-391, an R-725, and two R-392’s. They just seem to find me after I bought the first one. Amazing receivers! I also have a modified 75A-1 that is almost as good as the 75A-4, but not quite. I need to set it up to switch between the 75A-4 and one of the R-390A’s and use them with the 200V. One of these days I’ll get around to that too. My McIntosh setup I just recently acquired, traded a Marantz 18 and some repair work for them. Great deal if you ask me. Along with the Collins stuff, they’re something I’ll never get rid of.

In the 60s, I a had turquoise/white 57 Chevy with a corvette 327, 4 barrel, 4 speed and I raced, on the freeway in San Jose CA. a Dodge Dart 273 4 speed and it walked away from me like I was standing still. I was so embarrassed. The guy even slowed down to ask if I was having troubles or I didn’t want to race. The car was beautiful, I wished I had it today.
