It's like planning out the structure of a spreadsheet, deciding on: Columns (Attributes): These are the categories of information you want to track (e.g., "Name," "Age," "Salary"). Data Types: The kind of information each column will hold (e.g., text, numbers, dates). Constraints: Rules that govern the data (e.g., "Age cannot be negative," "Salary must be a number"). Primary Key: A unique identifier for each row in the table (like a serial number). The "CREATE TABLE" statement in SQL is your tool for constructing this blueprint. Altering Tables Sometimes, your initial design needs adjustments. Maybe you want to: Add a Column: Include a new piece of information (e.g., add "Email Address" to your employee table). Remove a Column: Get rid of information you no longer need. Modify a Column: Change the data type (e.g., from whole numbers to decimals for a price column) or add/remove constraints. The "ALTER TABLE" statement is used to make these modifications, like an architect revising a building plan. Dropping Tables This is the most drastic action, like demolishing a building. It means: Complete Deletion: All data within the table is permanently lost. Structure Removal: The table's design (columns, constraints, etc.) is also erased. The "DROP TABLE" statement is used for this purpose, and it should be used with caution. Why These Actions Are Important Flexibility: Your data needs might evolve over time, and these actions allow you to adapt your database structure accordingly. I don't get the 4th normal form. Multi valued dependency cannot create an anomaly , since all are non key attribute and all are dependent on primary key.
