It's incredible how they could build things like that back then, when we are so much more advanced now. The engineering was quite awesome in those times, for what they had.

Why would people think it's a good idea to run it? Do u want it to sink? There's 80% the ship can sink AND it was the LAST SHIP by white star line!

I imagine they used a tar, or a gum substance coated over the plates of iron, and rivets to seal to waterproof it. Then painted over. Probably can Google Iron Ship Building - Waterproofing to find out more. ✌️

You have to admire the shear scale of this project, These huge engineering feats were unheard of at that time, I take my hat off to all concerned with this great endeavour .from the ship builders, the planners , the draughtsmen , the engineers, and the carpenters, They all played their part in the Titanic Legend. not forgetting the Olympic of course, She had a long life. So in effect, the whole H & W shipyard was a great success !!

Maritime history in the making, There can never, ever be another legend, quite in the same league as this wonder, but doomed giant of the sea ! The 7 million pound layout for this famous liner, sure was money well spent, the very name itself is a licence to print money, and its never going to stop. I'd say she was the bargain of all time.

You cannot help but admire the whole H&W set up, To think that these visionaries really were years ahead of the rest ! Inspirational, every last one of them !!
