Hey, not sure if you’re still active on this channel but I just switched from a EC phase 2 to a Tork stage 2 tune (EC caused a bunch of problems) but feel like the Tork one has less punch to it. Is this just from the fact that it runs less boost? Is that normal? The results in the video are what I’m looking for, near exact performance just more reliability.
@BrodeyDoverosx4 ай бұрын
Oh I’m still active. Just replying from my personal account. The Tork tune is MUCH smoother so that big punch (which with EC sometimes wasn’t there and sometimes it was) is no more. Instead John builds the torque upward gradually so it doesn’t make you go “oh wow”, but it’ll pull that hard every single time. That’s the beauty of the Tork tune.

I recommend running the stock flywheel unless you want to make your car edgier to drive in traffic. The SMF is a magical thing for track days.

Excellent video. Thanks for providing various vantage point perspectives from: a leading vehicle looking back, a car following from the rear, an aerial drone, and from the back seat. Its exciting to see a talented driver operate a vehicle at the limits of adhesion.

Hi, I tried the dragrace this weekend and my best time in 1/8 mile was 10.1s. What are the range rpm that you use in the start of the race? How much boost do you have in each gear? Do you change gear above 6000 rpm? Where is the best range to do?
@doverlabs3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I rev to 3000RPM and I slip out the clutch as slow as possible (not burning it, but not dropping it either) and let the driveline load up and get the car to roll out. My shift point is as high as possible. Why? Because the area under the curve is higher after a shift, for some reason people think you need to maximize "torque" values but that is a good way of going slower and why my record (14.235) still stands.

@BrodeyDoverosx3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! I currently have an ATP high flow, CX Racing dual cat back (similar to neuF) and I’ve added a 2.5” magnaflow round muffler. The Magnaflow really reduces the rasp and makes a big difference for daily driving. I will be adding a catless downpipe to pump up the volume, but I’m actually really happy with the current sound. It’s so good to hear the engine and tires again.

How's reliability been on the car with the tunes? I'm looking at a Tork Tuned 500 Abarth this weekend. Don't know exact details on the build yet, but should be similar (from what I can see in photos) to the Tork Car
@BrodeyDoverosx3 жыл бұрын
The car has been excellent. Just stay away from sticky tracks (if you get the meth tune from John). My diff exploded and that was a fun time. That said, I was chasing the first 13 second flat 500 (stock turbo) record and John and I built a custom tune.
@TechX13203 жыл бұрын
@@BrodeyDoverosx I'm gonna be coming from a 2012 Golf MK6R with 340whp. Cars down and out for the year while it gets some major repairs. Stock Turbo finally gave its last boost, my valve cover gasket needs done, full PCV system replaced... gonna just (sadly) chuck it in the garage, wait a year, save up and build a 450+whp R for 2022. I just want something that's still as fun feeling, which is why I went looking for Abarth's. The one I'm looking at looks like its done up well. Gonna do a video about it if I get it Saturday. Might even ask the guy if I can do a video anyway, if I don't get it, to help him sell it because he's had it for over 2 months at his car lot. Its fully gutted for weight saving, only original seats are in it and the dash. Everything else is basically gone.
@doverlabs3 жыл бұрын
Did you end up getting it?
@TechX13203 жыл бұрын
@@doverlabs yeah I did. So much fun in fact that I'm selling my golf just to pay for more parts for the Fiat. There's a video of a track day with my car on my channel. Fastest I've gone on a quarter mile I don't have a video up but that was 14.99. I need to do a front mount intercooler, and multi air springs, then I should be much better off. Tork is a bit confused why I'm not lower in the 14s but we think it's the fact that don't have that inner cooler, probably have a really small boost leak somewhere and because I have a breakup and power due to valve float since I'm still on the multi-air stock springs
@doverlabs3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I'm glad you're running the Tork tune. With a FMIC, downpipe and Tork Stage 1 I was running 14.9 all day and 14.8 on a good pull. With stage 2 I was running 14.6 all day and 14.4 on a good pull. With Stage 2 Meth....I was running 14.4 all day and 14.2 on a good pull ;-). Contrast this to the EC Stage 2 tune (beta) with race gas where I got a best of 14.965 lol. I seriously doubt the quality of their "race testers". That's why I switched to Tork....I spent tons of money and got nowhere with their tuner. Of course they are angry about it...but the results speak for themselves. Perhaps they can get better? Learn to tune faster cars?

A rematch? I’m another 0.2-0.4 seconds faster with my 100% methanol tune. I popped my differential from the ridiculous torque and with covid19 we haven’t made it back out unfortunately. I now have an fx250 clutch and a lightweight flywheel so I suspect the goal post moving kids on Facebook wouldn’t accept the result. In any case, I had a lot of fun and the cars were closer than expected.

I bought a pair of these back in either the very late 90's or early 2000's......biggest audio mistake I ever made. They just don't sound "right".....It's almost like there's too much mid and not enough high end....I tried all kinds of things, even upgraded the caps in the crossover as a last resort.....they've been sitting in my basement unused and unloved for probably 15 years.....But, I decided to hook them up this morning.......playing with them right now.....and....though they aren't quite as bad as I remember, they still don't sound right. (to my ears....so it's just a subjective opinion) I imagine they'll be heading back down to the basement before too long. I'm curious if you still have yours, and if you've been happy with them? There was a smaller model, as I recall....with just one woofer and one midrange vs the two in the FPF-1000.......I think they actually sounded better, if memory serves correctly.
@BrodeyDoverosx5 жыл бұрын
Ozzpocket Productions wow, so glad to see a close enthusiast of these speakers. You nailed it on the head, they definitely aren’t true high end but they have a unique sound that continues to pull you in. The lower model is the fpf-600 and the higher end model was the fpf-1600. I sold them when I moved to a smaller apartment but I’ve been looking for a pair just to see... lol
@Tull19965 жыл бұрын
@@BrodeyDoverosx Iol.. I forgot about the larger model...I think they stood taller and used two 8 inch woofers, 4 midrange ribbons and two tweeters...Never got to hear them as the store I got these in only carried the two smaller...and actually, they didn't even really carry them as a rule...he had purchased one pair of each from the rep to test them out. I've bought a lot of audio equipment over the years, and out of ALL of it, the only one I ever truly regretted was those...they weren't exactly cheap, and then I spent even MORE money on them trying unsuccessfully to mod them to sound better. I've thought about selling them over the years, but I don't think anyone local would buy them...I don't have the boxes anymore, and the things are pretty darned heavy, so shipping would be pretty expensive... I actually think they'd sound better if one of the mid-range drivers was turned off. It's sort of a D'appolito design, as is, which I learned a long time ago, I personally don't care for in any speaker I've heard that utilizes it. (Not saying it's bad...just saying it doesn't appeal to me). I might open them up to check...but I seem to remember the way they were wired, made it difficult to just take one out of the circuit....but, again, it was a long time ago, so I may actually check into that today. I'd be really curious to hear your opinion on them if you WERE able to find a pair (though, I'm guessing they're probably rather rare at this point)

@@Tull1996 I’m thinking I’ll be looking at a GR ribbon to get that fix. Like you said, the crossover is off, driver placement is off but if I saw a set for cheap I’d absolutely buy them.

Mention the Fiat 500 rides on top of the snow instead of digging in because of weight, so any snow tire pretty much improves any sway that you get from all season. I'm going to try these next as my Firestone are showing wear and loss of traction sooner than expected for price. These are $61 us on Carid.

Metrosexual Millwright exactly. At full throttle they are both very close. I recently checked my spark plug gaps because I was getting spark plug blow out, which may not have helped me out so much. Hi pcfxer, I was at this race that day in April (was the pregnant person sitting in the stands to the left). Do you remember anything from that night? Particularly the guy on the bike you let go in the left lane? I was part of a physical abuse situation with a very intoxicated man and I am desperately reaching out to anyone who may remember or have witnessed anything that day/evening. Strange to get this kind of comment, I know and I'm sorry. I remember your Fiat, it was pretty awesome. Any help would be greatly appreciated since another witness has sworn they seen nothing. Help a woman out? my email is [email protected]. Please, any information or leads would be exponentially helpful.
