Do you master you own music in Reason
@TaurusBeats3 жыл бұрын
Hey fam! No. I don't master my own music in Reason, While I do use the MClass Mastering Suite in Reason, I consider what I do a final mix or pre-master. For other artists' projects I work on, I send tracks to someone else for mastering. For my own projects, it's just my final mix.
@ivanvelez76683 жыл бұрын
wow, you've got that reason zoomed in on your monitor, even I can see clearly lol. Nice video. I have a question, I have reason 11 suite and I'm just learning music production. Do you use any effects or utilities on each of your drums such as compressors, eq's, maximizer, stereo imager etc,.....? I'm trying to make my drums sound punchy or thumping but not successful at it.
@TaurusBeats3 жыл бұрын
@Ivan Velez - Yes, my eyes don't work like they used to (visually impaired), so I zoom in a lot. Good to know that you can see my screen too! Helpful to know so I can continue to make walk-through videos. Thanks! The key to sounds (drums or otherwise) is picking GREAT sound from the start. Reason stock sounds are good, but I always layer drum sounds in Reason. I don't do individual compression and EQ on each drum sound, but I do pan each drum sound (rarely the kick - depends on genre). Layering and panning work for me most of the time. Panning creates space for the sound to come through. Also, picking sounds that don't compete for the same frequency space is important. To limit the amount of tweaking needed, I use VSTs and sounds that already sound great together out of the box.
@ivanvelez76683 жыл бұрын
@@TaurusBeats First off, I apologize of the zooming comments. I myself having eye issues now that I am getting older I now wear glasses too. As far as what you've mentioned in your reply. Thats a great idea of panning your drums to create space for the sound to come through. Its's true that layering sounds tend to compete for the same frequencies.I do mainly House, tech house, techno mixes. I am just learning and want to get my drums to sound good like most other house, trech house, and techno house tracks that often hear. Thank you for your response.
@TaurusBeats3 жыл бұрын
@@ivanvelez7668 No worries, fam! Your comment about the screen really is a big help to me. Because of my eyesight, it is more challenging to do the screen capture type videos for in-depth walk-thrus. Again, thanks for letting me know you can see what I am doing. About the sounds: Reason has always leaned towards EDM, IMO. However, I stumbled upon some nice house sounds in Reason 11. If you haven't done so already, check out the house loops in Reason. Work with these loops (cut them up however you need), but the individual kit sounds already work well together. Build from there.
@ivanvelez76683 жыл бұрын
@@TaurusBeats ok great, thanks.
@ivanvelez76683 жыл бұрын
Hey how are you doing? Hope all is well. I have another question regarding layering drums and snares as in your video. Do you use the same drum sounds and layer them or are they each different? For instance, you wanna layer the kick sounds. you would grab 3 or 4 different kick sounds or are they the same kick sounds?

I’m here from the old MPD 32 basic tutorial video. Wanted to say thanks and was wondering if you have any other tutorials to correctly use the MPD 32 in Reason? I literally cannot find any MPD 32 and Reason tutorials and my friend just gave his to me and I wanna dabble on it. Hope to hear from you man, tight beat in this vid
@TaurusBeats3 жыл бұрын
Gil, thanks for sticking with me this long, fam! Unfortunately, my MPD32 profile stopped working in the newer versions of Reason (started Reason 10, currently, Reason 11 Suite). I am not sure why this happened and I have been investigating it. That's the main reason why you see me with my DJX all the time. I'll look into this more for you and make videos on what I find. Check my TaurusBeats website, too. I may have something there.
