I was big on Odoo but then I had a terrible experience with Odoo sales. Now, I am a big skeptic of Odoo because I saw how they were just pushing their product using terrible referral tactics for both their partner program where they want to recruit partners that pay them and getting clients to oversell them on things they will not need.

Which ERP module is best for MBA finance field to study ? Any best answer please
@verttikoo205225 күн бұрын
I wanted to see this video because as a start up I need to do all the things and need the kitchen sink too. My decision is now to select the odoo instead of Zoho. Keyword was “developer community”. When there is healthy ecosystem then that makes that there is upgrades. I like the founders ideas too.

1. Why is effective contract negotiation so important? Marcus Harris emphasized that: Setting Expectations: Contract negotiation provides a chance to align expectations between the client and vendor regarding project responsibilities and outcomes. Project Management Framework: Effective negotiations are essential for creating processes to manage vendor relationships and project dynamics over the life of the project and beyond. Legal and Practical Perspectives: While legal terms are critical, it’s equally important to view the contract as a strategic tool to ensure smooth project execution. 2. Potential pitfalls or traps customers may walk into during the process? Over-focusing on Price Discounts: Customers often focus excessively on upfront cost savings, ignoring critical terms that could influence long-term costs and project management. Ignoring Change and Dispute Management: Missing the opportunity to negotiate change management and dispute resolution processes can lead to challenges during implementation. Over-reliance on Legal Abstracts: Focusing only on warranties or liabilities while neglecting practical project considerations can result in operational inefficiencies. 3. What are some nuances to watch for in cloud subscription-based models compared to on-premise contracts? Exit Flexibility: Cloud contracts often have automatic renewals and price escalations. Negotiations should prioritize short commitments with maximum flexibility to exit. Data Handling and Ownership: Customers must understand how their data is stored, managed, and returned. Cloud vendors may bundle data with others or charge fees for data transfer or breaches. Hidden Cost Risks: Subscriptions often include escalators, add-on fees, and fewer upfront controls compared to perpetual on-premise licenses. 4. Thoughts on the cost side of cloud contracts versus traditional on-premise? Higher Long-Term Costs: While cloud solutions might appear cheaper upfront, ongoing fees, escalators, and switching costs can significantly increase total expenditures. Locked-in Relationships: Vendors often design cloud contracts to create high switching costs, making it difficult for customers to move to alternative providers. Data Portability: Clients must ensure contracts include provisions for data retrieval at reasonable costs to avoid "hostage situations." 5. Nuances of negotiating with system integrators or implementers? Resource Allocation Risks: Vendors may promise top-tier consultants but deliver less experienced teams if higher-priority clients emerge. Vague Scope Definitions: Contracts often lack specific language, leading to scope creep and additional costs. Training Grounds for Inexperienced Staff: Large integrators might use projects to train junior consultants, increasing risks of project inefficiencies. 6. Differences between negotiating with larger system integrators versus boutique ones? Larger Integrators: More structured contracts but with rigid terms favoring the vendor. Potential to use projects as "cash cows" or for training purposes. High risk of billable hour inflation due to weak project scope controls. Boutique Integrators: More resource constraints, requiring clear guarantees of consultant availability. Less sophisticated contracts, often needing significant negotiation to align with client needs. 7. Who controls and owns the project-the client or the system integrator? Contractual Ambiguity: Integrators often place control ambiguities in contracts, leading to finger-pointing during disputes. Project Management Responsibility: The client often lacks the recent, practical experience needed to manage large-scale implementations, leaving them vulnerable. Remedies: Strong language in contracts around milestones, deliverables, and change management can help clients maintain control. 8. What is the “bread and butter” of the integrator? Control and Flexibility: Integrators aim to maximize control over project management while protecting their revenue streams. Revenue Maximization: They often expand scope or inflate billing hours, increasing project costs. Defensive Provisions: Contracts are designed to allow integrators to shift blame onto the client if issues arise. 9. Beyond just the pure T's and C's (terms and conditions)? Practical Application: Contracts must address real-world project risks and implementation challenges, not just legalities. Operational Terms: Examples include defining project status reporting, scope management, and integration responsibilities. Strategic Planning: Legal counsel experienced in software contracts can anticipate common failures and include preventive measures. 10. Closing things you would summarize? Avoid Over-Focusing on Cost: Think beyond initial costs and plan for long-term flexibility in managing software and vendor relationships. Prioritize Project Management: Strong project management terms in contracts are crucial to mitigate risks and prevent failures. Invest in Early Legal Counsel: Early legal advice focused on software contracts is cost-effective and helps avoid expensive litigation later. Holistic View: Combine strategic and legal perspectives to address practical, financial, and technical challenges effectively.

Oracle Fusion is a clunker. Not seamless but stitched together modules, more reactive than innovative. Too much reliance on IT and AMS due to complexity. No thank you! The review does not factor in many important aspects of living with a system day to day.

Great and thank you for this wonderful presentation I have a question: Can I resell the Odoo system to my clients under my brand as a SAAS?
@LatnokAfrica7 күн бұрын
YES only considering your Odoo SAAS is community version. Odoo enterprise is a trademark of ODOO S.A. However, you can sell also Odoo ENterprise on your SaaS keeping in mind that it's mandatory for your client to contract with Odoo S.A. at one side and with you at another side for implementation, Training and Support.
