Thank you, as I remember the area when I lived there

Wow what a great video. the one thing I always remember if going to Worksop from home in Staveley was the flour mill on the left on entering the town. Not much else looks any different apart from the now pedestrianised Bridge Street which sorry to say is now a shadow of its former self of busy independent shops in the 80s, no doubt thriving with regular customers. You're now lucky to see a handful of folk walking up and down there as there's very little on there now and folks just don't bother anymore.

Sadly the council now in their wisdom have decided to stop cars parking on the hill now in favour of it being a cycle lane, so people can't easily enjoy the views from those benches. At least not if you are disabled.

Looks nice and all its a shame I know Bournemouth as a cesspit of tramps and with a strong sense of cannabis but grandad did just told me he was walking his dog once and found a dirty pervert with his todger.

Meadowhall Christmas decorations are awful these days, no colour at all, just twinkling white lights, it was so colourful years ago 😏

I’m 21 so I wasn’t even alive then, but it does make me sad to think about how abandoned the train is now, it’s not as popular as it used to be. When I was a kid it definitely was. But.. now it seems to be a lot less so, it still runs I know though.

The entitled boomers are out in force yet again! The arrogance and superiority (and hypocrisy) is stunning. There were plenty of folk who remembered the 1930s and thought the place (and people) had well and truly gone to the dogs by the late 60s. Long haired louts, terrible music, the permissive society. It wasnt the best of times or worst of times...just a point in time.

Wow! - amazing value of cars on that driveway, way out of the reach of most.. getting one car was a struggle for most, but 4 including a Healey 3000! - prices to buy them/they were worth at the time in today's terms probably total about £120k or thereabouts - HP and bank loans much harder to get for vehicles then - the businesses must have been making some serious profits in the background!

It breaks my heart what the rubbish local council has done to Bournemouth in the last few decades pedestrianising Boscombe and the square. They turned the town in to a dump, they should have their pensions taken off them.

Like to see all the old cars in Bournemouth long gone, but perhaps a Morris Minor still survives today.

Im 42. First went to Poole in 1995, then 1996. I decided then that i wanted to live there. Property wasnt expensive either and cheaper than in the Midlands. Years later i got into a relationship with someone from another city and moved there had kids, relationship ended, couldnt move away from kids. Been many times from 2001 - 2022. Visited 7 times in 2020. Its changed so much and not as nice as i remember it to be.

God what beautiful memories. I used to ride on that Poole Park train with my Mum, probably in exactly that time period. Also the drive over the crest of Evening Hill, heading towards Shore Road and Sandbanks. My Mum would tell me about how she saw flying boats in Poole Harbour during and just after the Second world war. Quite emotional to see such an old memories brought to life! Thank you Rod Bean for posting this.

Hi Rod, would you happen to remember "The Great Crazy Critter Bonanza"? From my research, it seems to have been brand new around the time of your 1986 visit but we have no confirmation of it's opening outside of the company's name records in 1985 matching with the company name on the concept art and a newspaper from 1989!

The sad fact of the matter is that back then - Worksop looked great and was full of open shops. Worksop now is an absolute shithole. I am telling you that Selby is 10 times better than Worksop and Selby is also a shithole. Harehills lane is a safer and more enjoyable place to spend a Saturday night.
