How does such a fat driver ride on a narrow track? not enough consideration to buy a WT or a SWT?

Rebecca. Greetings from Chukotka, Russia. This is a terrible thing. Where is the snow? Is the prize in this race worth the trouble for a snowmobile?
@rebeccacharles93803 жыл бұрын
This is in a "snow shadow" on the north side of the Alaska Range. Often there is little to no snow there. It's totally worth it for the adventure!

How much do riders pay to participate? Do the organizers help them fix the equipment? Or are they all taking part in a race to survive? And how much do the winners get paid for winning places?

They should race someplace where there’s snow. Almost every time I watch one of these races it looks like a dirt bike would be better suited to the conditions. 😀

That's just that area. Do some research on mountain range snow shadows. This is the tallest range in north America.

We had some really crappy climate change winters in AK. Recently in the past 2 years we have had winters that are more similar to normal. Who knows how long the current trend will last? I hope it does but I don't have much confidence.

@@erickfish1400 it seems like Fairbanks is getting all of our snow. Right now this is the worst winter we’ve had since ‘95-‘96. We have around 2’ of snow on the ground in some places but the wind blew most of it away. The snow we do have has no base and is very thin in most areas. Complete garbage conditions. Even fatbiking is no fun with the constant wind and signal digit to below zero temps. We’ve had 4 good winters since 2010. Not a great record.
@erickfish14002 жыл бұрын
@@thatalaskaguy damn sorry man. Only January and quite a few folks are over it already. Can't imagine this being anyone's first winter anywhere in Alaska. I hope it improves for you, at least the wind could quit maybe.

Let me elaborate. The snowless area called "The Burn" is north of the very tall Alaska Range. Weather comes from the south and gets blocked by the tall mountains creating a "snow shadow" where very little snow falls. Hope this explains it!
@ethanwilson90087 жыл бұрын
How did you keep your sled from overheating on the bare trail?
@rebeccacharles93805 жыл бұрын
Theres little bits of snow that the studs kick up into the heat exchanger, but honestly, these Polaris sleds handle the lack of snow very well and rarely see excessively high temps, even in the burn.
