Saw them at the 100 club when I was able to still travel, brilliant gig ‘do a runner is still in my top 2 favourite albums. Just wish I could find a version of risk on you tube.

As a 12 year old kid on a paper round budget I mainly bought reduced priced records & I got both Do A Runner & the Delta 5 album for 50p each at Morrisons! Airships was my favourite song, so it was wonderful to hear the demo version. Loved the gnarly synths at the start, I wish they'd kept that sound but i prefer the LP version, more psychedelic and cosmic: definitely the Spizz magnum opus. Many thanks.

Fun fact: Steve Nye produced their stuff. He also produced Tin Drum and the first 3 David Sylvian albums. Some of the Scary Thieves stuff sounds lime it would fit with Japan or Talk Talk.

Saw Spizzenergi at the Camden Underground a couple of Fridays back for the first time in about 42 years. What can I say? I was a 59 year old teenager again for an hour or so. Fu***ng fantastic fun was had by all. It was good to chat with the band afterwards too. Great bunch of blokes.

I Programmed a set for them and mixed and recorded them on to a 8 track tape machine, however I dont think they know what they were doing as they expected the backing tracks to sound exactly like the record etc And this was into about an hour of rehearsing.. No idea about electronic music or click tracks. I was actually in the first video for this song which was not used due to Bee's obsession with dancing with a dead smelly fish

When was this broadcasted?? I remember Gilbert snot nose, as he was know on a show called get fresh 1987 very funny, it was a Saturday morning show on itv.

1990. It was a regional programme on Tyne Tees only (Gilbert's Fridge was also a Tyne Tees creation, as was Get Fresh although it went around the country). Not entirely sure what TTTV were thinking putting this up against Eastenders but I'm glad they did!

Leigh definitely has his own aesthetic. Some drag queens wear wildly different styles because they work with different designers, but Leigh designed his own outfits and they all scream his style.
