Onder alcohol was hy juist lichamelijk en geestelijk heel sterk, hy kon de hele nacht, blyven, oude koeien uit de sloot halen, verband en leggen om my moeder te treiteren expres, ook uitlachen totdat t uit de hand liep. Niemand kwam helpen, ook de politie leek meer partij van myn vader te zyn. Mn vader was 3 jaar op school geweest, maar leek intelligent te zyn, trok met geleerde mensen op, ze vonden mn vader een top mens. Myn moeder 13 kinderen, 2 jaar op school, had een winkel die door mn vaders dronkenschap in faillissement is gegaan. Mn moeder was slim vooruitstrevend , zy naaide alle kleren van ons, plus landbouw, we hadden armoede, dat was niet erg, het was thuis nooit veilig. We waren altyd op onze alertheid netof we een alarm in ons lichaam was die vertelde dat t bedreiging aankwam . . Wie had dan meer liefde nodig myn moeder of ik, wie kon ik troosten, myself of myn moeder. Zy was myn Godin, we hielden veel van onze Mam.
