I worked evenings at KSEM in Moses Lake and The Bards brought the acetate copy and asked if I would play it. First time ever heard on Radio.

The intro of the song is so cool. Reminds me of the intro of I Love You by People.

Perfectly captures that wave of regional creativity that came to define the pop music tapestry of the early eighties. Why Boat to Bolivia wasn’t an outstanding success remains a great mystery.

A sad bar overlit I've come to praise not dismiss Loneliness Waiting for the axe to fall Acting like I've seen it all Can you think of shelter Can you have a place that's warm Walk tall walk out Leave me here but not without Loneliness Waiting for your boyfriend to call Hoping that he'll perish in the fall Thought I'd cut my losses Hoping that the days are small Can you lean and tell her Around here was the place I was born Same sex as me She's the same sex as me Loneliness I wound myself in a ball Hoping to feel nothing at all Can you think of shelter Can you have a place that's warm Can you lean and tell her Around here was the place I was born And later that year My hair turned the colour of corn

What an insanely good band. My jangle tribute band plays One Saturday, Bring Back the Rain, and Dear Friend. Might have to add this.

Boat to Bolivia, Gladsome Humour & Blue, and Salutation Road albums are as much as a soundtrack to my life as Stones Roses & Oasis went on to be. In a way, I glad they didn't get the fame and recognition they deserve - in my tiny mind that means their songs are mine, all mine ❤😂❤

I worked at KSEM radio in Moses Lake in the early 70's and the phones always lite up when I played this song. So many stories about the band and the members. One of them was working at a local tire store. Don't remember which one, but his mother in law, Carol Penn, worked at KSEM.

I grew up as teenager in Moses Lake WA. I was in a band called The Stop Sign and along with the guys in the band, we would go over to Bob Gallaway's house and listen to them practice in his garage. Too cool!
