Had MRI today and CT on yesterday. Longest MRI I've ever had. Realization on how often we have random discomforts we're used to just subconsciously solving such as a scratch on the ankle.😂

In the past I failed at the closed and the open MRI. This week I had the Upright MRI and it was a breeze. Not a bit of claustrophobia. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has anxiety issues.

Just had mine done yesterday. It wasn’t very painful, but it was quite uncomfortable and pretty unnerving. My shoulder joint did some spasming when they put the contrast in which was really strange. Hopefully my results are good 🤞

It hurts I don’t know what lies this lady is telling us. I just had one done and had to clench my fists, and held my breath, I know I was making faces like I’m uncomfortable…and they don’t even tell you any of that. You have the right to ask for pain numbing or relief so you don’t have to go through the discomfort.

The trick is to have a loved one go with you and they hold onto your leg or foot while in the machine. It makes a huge difference. The imaging centers know this, but to them it's a hassle to have a second person so they do not encourage it.

I recently had an MRI and it was horrifying. I thought I’d be okay because it was an open MRI but I still was in a machine that had the roof of it inches from my face. And the sides of the machine were open, but of course we have to stay still, and I felt almost as if it was a coffin even though the sides were open. I had a major panic attack. I waved for the technician to come in. In fact I panicked so bad I literally started screaming and crying and hitting the machine. The technician came in the room. He told me the session was not quite finished, so I needed to go back in. He helped come me down. I had to calm down to do two to three more minutes. He stayed in a room with me, but he was on the side where I could not see him. So I started panicking again and they stopped the machine. They did finish it, but it was, maybe 99% done. It was so horrifying. I never felt so much panic and fear that I can remember in a long time. Lord give Your Peace. 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

I bailed on an MRI a few years ago. It was right at the start of COVID -- and I was forced to wear a mask which I wasn't really used to yet -- so I've always thought that my fear was related to the way the mask lay against my mouth making it difficult to breathe while I tried not to move. I lasted two minutes before squeezing the panic ball. I refused to go in again. They tried to rebook a couple years later, but still required a mask. I refused again. Anyway, I went yesterday. No masks. But still panicked after just a few seconds. Squeezed the ball and they took me out. They offered to let me go in a larger machine (still a tube but not as constricted). I agreed to try. It was still terrible, but at least I could lay with my arms at my side -- and felt like I could move them if I really needed to (unlike the first machine where the walls pushed into my arms like a cocoon). I fought the panic and lasted the full 20 minutes. I'm glad it's over but I'll never take another one. It probably sounds silly to someone who hasn't experienced it -- or doesn't have those fears -- but man, it's a terrifying nightmare.

@@rkgibbons Wow that did sound horrifying what you went through. It sounds like you were in a closed MRI. There’s no way in my right mind I could do the closed MRI. They would have to completely knocked me out. They sedated my son when he was a child when he had his MRI. He wasn’t completely asleep, but he was so drowsy that he doesn’t even remember the experience. Congrats for getting through it. Hopefully you will never need one again. Amen 🙏

Please just straight up tell people it might hurt. Everyone's body is different. My mom told me she didn't feel a thing when she had to have them, but when I went in it felt like I was gonna tear open down there. Spoke to friends and most of them told me that yeah, any kind of pelvic exam hurts to varying degrees. So yeah. Please just be aware that it more than likely will hurt.

1.2 is the largest, they are still signal starved, they are shitty machines and I would not have one because of that. I work on a 1.5 GE 70cm bore magnet and it’s got the air recon DL. My scans are way faster than these open piles of shit.
