Why would you burn the dress? I would have thought they would keep it as rags.

The info given here is wrong, including the date of the murders (August, NOT October) and Lizzie's age at the time. For heaven's sake, get the basic information right.

I think she is the first well known female psychopath in American history. Who else could do what she did and live out her life in the same state, as if nothing happened.

The bordens are ancestors to my husband. Just interesting how this actually wasn’t the only death in the Borden family another relative killed her children then herself.

I think she was a psychopath and did it. They can 'act' nice, charitable, active in community, church etc. One thing I wonder is: after she and Emma bought their big house Maplecroft WHY was Lizzie shunned big time by seemingly most of the townspeople? Wouldn't sit next to her in church etc, Did they generally think she did the murders but got away with it? If they generally liked and admired her as a person BEFORE the murders wouldn't they be joyful she was found innocent? They wouldn't shun her. Yet they did. Maybe they deemed her 'not right in the head' or 'something weird or wrong about her, can't trust her, or she seems phoney or something' before the murders---just gut feelings---so they believed she did it but got away with it....maybe like the OJ Simpson case. Or maybe she started openly flaunting her lesbianism with that actress which of course was a sin in those days...so that's why Emma left and the town shunned her? Who knows.

In the movie 1975 with Elizabeth Montgomery Emma said," I don't like it when you are like this, I am going to visit some friends in Fair Haven." Lizzie replied, yes you go to Fair Haven. Emma had to know it was Lizzie from the get go. I believe the Step Mother was trying to convince Mr. Borden to change his will.

Every time I hear the thing about the prussic acid ( which is actually hydrogen cyanide) I ask myself how pray tell was one supposed to get a prescription for hydrogen cyanide? I believe it was years before they banned ordering heroin from Sears. I mean you could order a rifle through the mail or buy dynamite at the feed store until the 60's, but you had to have a prescription from a doctor, for poison? In the 1890's?

. Anything about the Borden murder mystery is fascinating is fascinating in the story does change.. from presenter to presenter. Great job I love the foreign animation in your voice very engaging .. nuce job... Only 45 residents had electric service. It was not as widely used. It was slowly getting used section by section throughout the city. In court transcripts Andrew was getting ready to purchase another home with the amenities of the day.

I think if the Mendendez Brothers. Maybe the daughters and uncle were in cahoots. Lizzie could have committed the murders naked and cleaned up quickly since there was a pail of water the maid was using to clean the windows.

Born and raised in Fall River so I have been told this legend since I was old enough to remember. I have been to her house her grave the jail - I even named my own strain of cannabis after her. Spindle City as it was once know was a textile industry leader in the country back in the day. Battleship Cove is cool as well.

I think Lizzie certainly did it. However it is interesting that no-one would have expected Andrew back until lunchtime (dinnertime) and good old Uncle John was expected back at the same time. So if Abbie was killed between 9.00 and 10.30, surely it would be expected that the body would have to be found by at least Brigit before then. So what was Lizzie thinking? Did she just intend to kill Abbie, imply someone else sneaked in and did it and then ensure that she and Emma got back into Papa's good books and especially his Will? Did him turning up early mean she decided to "strike while the iron is hot"?

Maybe the neighbors who heard a noise the night before the murders like someone climbing the Borden fence was the murderer sneaking into the house and when Lizzie said she thought she heard the cellar door maybe Abby had returned had actually heard the murderer leaving the house.
