Deep stances were needed BUT not for permanent use. This change was needed for strenghtening you own body and to improve the efficiency of techniques. BUT, I personally think that using deep stances every time is a bad idea. Like, in street fight or in self-defence situations you shouldn't use deep stances, rather, you should have freedom of movement BUT you also must be capable of using all of body's power and energy in all techniques and for that you need to condition your body and improve your stamina(by using deep stances, punching makiwara etc). So, deep stances are useful but only during training. But you should have the ability to use all of your techniques from any stance and from any position, and in sparrings you should try to stand up a little. I mean, there is no reason for sitting in deep stances all the time, right?

Question, do you have a Video Like heian shodan, where you explain the word, meaning, moving and Sense? For me IT was very helpful to understand what means what If Sensei says" do this... do that... What i mean. You listen and hear movement like age uke,i knew IT means upper Block and what to Take care off, even IT needs still Training for me to stand always nice and used my legs/hips right. Thanks

Great video. A lot of 'kung fu' in Asai Shotokan, I would say. It is definitely a potent offshoot of Shotokan. Thank you for your great work.

My friend, this would be easier to see if the Bloodsport logo wasn't stuck in the middle of the screen. May I suggest editing it out and rereleasing the video? When you where explaining the moves with the hands on the legs and rotating the knee and ankle, it was behind the Bloodsport logo, and completely invisible.

What I never understand about these circular blocks is that you have to cover so much more distance. Will a straight punch not always be much faster than your block ?

you're lucky that Sosai students haven't seen this somebody like Yuzo Goda or Yasuhiko Oyama. because somebody like Masutatsu would never be afraid of Asihara never in 1000 years

I'm disappointed not to see any Okinawan Kenpo listed here. You have a pretty decent list of the major styles, otherwise, but that is one glaring omission. Care to explain?

Why is this guy even evaluating Jeff Speakman if he isn't that knowledgeable in American Kenpo? Most of the time he doesn't know why or what Jeff Speakman does what he does. It seems as if he feels that traditional Japanese Karate is the only way to go. Jeff Speakman developed Kenpo 5.0 something this guy isn't familiar with.

I do not think that Grand Master Mas Oyama afraid of him Maybe he expelled him so that he want his student to make his own route Maybe he see himself on him That why.... Just theory On the surface is like he was afraid of him Maybe In his heart he made the right choice

I want to learn karate 1. "Karate is not just about punches and kicks, it's about discipline, respect, and self-control." - Unknown 2. "A black belt is just a piece of cloth, it's the person who wears it that makes it special." - Unknown 3. "Karate is not just a physical activity, it's a way to clear your mind and focus your energy." - Unknown 4. "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Bruce Lee 5. "Karate is a way of life, not just a sport or a hobby." - Unknown 6. "Believe you can and you're halfway there." - Theodore Roosevelt 7. "The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday." - Unknown 8. "Karate is not just about winning or losing, it's about personal growth and self-improvement." - Unknown 9. "The most important thing in karate is not the technique, it's the intention." - Gichin Funakoshi 10. "Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one." - Bruce Lee
