6:41 Ya know rewatching this episode something occurred to me. Why is there only Starfleet officer( Denobulan Barniss Frex) all alone on this Comm relay outpost CR-721. this is the most remote federation outpost .and he all there by himself? he an engineer repairing the power supply, conduits, deuterium, etc? What if the guy needed medical attention?. Surgery? Even if there was an EMH, we saw no evidence of any holograms working there. What if hes asleep or in the bathroom when some hostile species shows up? and only has a split second to defend the relay?? the relay station has advanced tech- AND it has defensive weapons like phasers that could fall into the wrong hands & hurt people. ONE guy protecting that all by himself?Gotta nitpick this- Starfleet isnt so badly designed. a Vulcan Admiral would have said "its not logical for 1 officer to be on an outpost all by himself."It would be a pirates dream target.being so remote , help would be a long way off as well if they needed a starfleet ship to save them

So, I don't remember if they mentioned it in the episode, but the time bug is Krenim technology (from Voyager's Year of Hell two parter) that was used in the temporal war. Now without spoilers, I would highly recommend watching Calypso before you get to the series finale. So yeah, this episode was a fun little time travel episode, that was done in an interestingly (mostly) new way. Seeing Aryium (sp, I never remember how to spell her name) was nice, and I'm glad she got more than one line lol It was a good episode that expands the relationship between Burnham and Rayner and he gets to be something other than the gruff straight to the point asshole lol as you said he's adapting. I'm glad you are enjoying all the episodes so far, as I said I figured you'd find it the best season easily even into the middle episodes where it kind of slows down a bit (as it usually does). Also, I won't point something else out because of spoilers for future episodes, but you haven't noticed something specifically - unless you have and just haven't had it in the videos recently lol

Yeah, S5 might be the best season overall - though I happen to find S4 my favorite of the bunch because of stuff :D Also, I hate that KZbin doesn't email notifications anymore, I'm subbed to so many channels I can't keep up with new videos on the main page so unfortunately channels such as yours just get lost the literally thousands of videos every day I have to go through (I'm subbed to something like 1.8K channels I think lol) so I'm a little late to this one. I saw Episode 3 got posted a few hours ago and of course had to come back to this one. I'm glad you are enjoying the season so far. Hopefully you'll be engaged all the way through - though as I said after you posted episode 1's reaction, it takes a few episodes to really get into gear, I think. As I said there and you said here, they didn't know this would be the last season so, things might have been done differently if they did know I'd imagine.

Finally watching the last season and still on the fence if I truly like Discovery. In it's defense, the show has a lot of interesting working parts, and some of the characters are very entertaining. Don't get me wrong, even Deep Space Nine needed time to build up steam and a lot of Trek shows needed their first season to iron-out problems. I just don't know where I stand with the series, I have all the other Treks as box sets and waiting on S3 of Strange New Worlds with a lot of anticipation. Great reaction as usual...!!

I feel like the "Sacrifice" here is a bit like the Emperor of Mankind on the golden Throne. The Chamber is some lost tech, it needs a Living brain to funtion, people forgot how the Technology works, so it has become a Ritual without them knowing how it works.

Oh wow, didn't expect you to actually react to this on the channel. The fact Discovery's season opener made you want to do this, is good imo. However, since I don't know how far into S5 of Discovery you are yet, I'll refrain from saying anything lol

This episode reminds me a bit of "Suspicions" where Beverly has to solve the murder of a Ferengi scientist amid an entourage of different species specialists. Seeing so many different factions - Romulan/Klingon/Cardassians - working towards their own goals and trying to beat each other to the finish line was an interesting storyline for The Chase. But totally agree with you - even DS9 at it's weakest - tackled some great stories better than Next Gen/TOS. Part of the reason I'll always love Battlestar Galactica with Ronald D Moore at it's helm. Great reaction video!!

About the engine program shutdown - it wasn't because of the records, it was because the Starfleet scientists failed to find a way that somebody besides Stamets and Booker will be a pilot. Yes, you need to rewatch the 6x20 TNG The Chase, there are things that can't be understood at all otherwise. And also, one major thing that you said you believe was wrong, but I'm not going to tell you what, because it will be a spoiler.

Yup. If Kwejian hadn't been destroyed, I bet Starfleet would've employed some of the empathic Kwejians to operate the spore drives.

Ah okay, that makes a lot more sense. Not sure why that wasn’t more clear to me. I guess I also just have a hard time believing that Book was the ONLY Kwejian off-planet at the time that the DMA struck. Even so, I’m sure there would be so few that it still wouldn’t be feasible (without decades or even centuries of repopulation).

This was a pretty solid overall season in my opinion. Just keep in mind (as I'm sure you are aware) they wrote and developed this season expecting a 6th season so, yeah. The only thing I'll say, even if you aren't into the story and progression, I'd keep watching until the finale.

His theory confirmed, a grin spreads wide; the show's twists and turns he takes in stride. Rutherford's implant, so sleek and fine, weaves his past into the storyline. Mariner's journey brings delight, especially with Picard's cameo in sight, though Jennifer's doubt leaves him unsure, in this saga, he seeks more. As the season wraps with laughter and cheer, Boimler's mimicry he holds dear; with hope, he's filled for what's to come, in "Lower Decks," his heart finds home.

@spamsir
@spamsir 28 күн бұрын
Are you asking if it gets better? I guess it depends on who you ask. I was watching the early seasons when they originally aired and I was swept away by the excitement of new Star Trek (since it was the only new show at the time). I don’t think I minded season 3 all that much since it gave Disco some room to establish itself separated from the TOS era. I’ve seen more positive opinions about post-S2, more so for S4 and S5, but your mileage may vary. I’d encourage you to try to get through S2 and see how you feel about what’s beyond that. But if you’re still having a bad time, no one is forcing you to watch any more. I hope it gets better for you!

Considering S31, it could be Prime or Mirror Universe. We know for sure it takes place in the "Lost Era" of Trek between Undiscovered Country and TNG. The chick with blue hair that calls Phillipa a bad bitch is Captain Rachel Garrett from the TNG episode Yesterday's Enterprise.

The final few episodes here were quintessential Trek in my opinion. Literally finding a new lifeform and civilization - granted way, way more advanced than anything we've ever come across really. The only thing I didn't quite accept here - is that 10-C is so advanced they somehow can't tell a starship or carbon-based lifeform from elementary particles or whatever? But then create a space for them they'd "understand" here at the end. Also, another nitpick I'll mention when you post the finale next (though I'm sure you've watched it by now etc.) bugged me even more but it's related obviously.

A bit of a tip: as a reactor, you need to be an entertainer, engaging, fun to watch, but it has to come across as genuine. You have to be an authentic reactor for people ro want to watch you. Also if something is spoiled, react as if it wasn’t.

As much as I dislike Beltran as a person, I have to say that his performance as Chakotay is really moving in this series, particularly in this episode. Him finding the skeleton of his friend and first officer Adreek is heartbreaking and surprisingly dark for a kids show. "Adreek you did it! You were right all along" man the delivery of that line is powerful, his voice breaking up, filled with both a sense of grief and hope! The animators even went as far as depicting the ocular ring bones in Adreek's eye sockets, as an Earth bird would have. I guess because he is not human, they could push it just a bit more with his skeleton... This show is like the Avatar The Last Airbender of Star Trek, a show for the whole family from kids to adults, and is effective in each and every age group of its audience. Simply great Star Trek!

This was such a perfect finale -- whether it ends up being for just the season (hopefully), or the series as a whole (hopefully not), it was just so well done. I spent most of ep 20 in tears the first time, and still choked up several times just watching your reaction again. I absolutely adored the way they tied back to the pilot episode; the nostalgia for the journey we've been on for 40 episodes was so bittersweet. The Crusher reunion; the tie-ins to the Utopia Planitia/Picard events... just expertly crafted. Genuinely hope we get more with this crew in the future. Thanks so much for bringing us along for the ride with you; you deserve to be getting seen by way more people! Have loved reliving the show with you. Live logs and proper! 🖖

They have a strange relationship with Janeway because she is technically a stranger. And they aren't used to adults they can trust, they were all slaves, some of which were sold by their parents. They are used to anything slightly outside of the rules needing to be kept hidden.

I also play Star Trek Timelines. 😉 The version of Mirror Janeway in that game has more of a "pirate" vibe. They gave her an eye patch, which looks like it's more of a cybernetic red glowing eye, but attached like a pirate's eye patch would be.
