Have you figured out how to send pitch/gate to the fh2? (not effects where you select the cc) like a normal step sequence are you able to route that to a cc in fh2?
@klaus_obermaier2 ай бұрын
FH-2: Enable one of the Converters. Set the corresponding MIDI channel (same as on the HAPAX track) with the FH-2 Configuration Tool. Then select Base Output (for example 3) and enable CV and Gate. FH-2 will output CV (pitch) on output 3 and Gate on output 4. Make sure that these FH-2 outputs are not used for any other CCs.

@@klaus_obermaier yes indeed! BTW: how did you generate the melody sequences?
@klaus_obermaier2 ай бұрын
@@AcoustiMan818 The iPad interface/keyboard is custom made with cycling74.com MAX/MIRA. For this piece I programmed some parameters in MAX. For example, moving up the Y axis will generate larger random intervals, starting from the note that I touch. It is different in the other piece, where I play the notes like in a traditional keyboard. There I use the Y axis for controlling the filter of the sound.

The HAPAX is very intuitive to use once you get used to the workflow. The WARP function for creating tuplets is absolutely brilliant and was one of the main reasons for switching from the OXI ONE.
@stacypark107710 күн бұрын
@@klaus_obermaier this is what I needed to read. I've been considering getting one or the other.
@NickHchaos3 ай бұрын
Is it intuitive to handle chance operations musically, would you say then?
@klaus_obermaier3 ай бұрын
Coming from the OXI ONE and the USTA, I found it intuitive, but I'm aware that it really depends on your personal workflow. It is an interplay of the effects CHANCE and RANDOM.
@NickHchaos3 ай бұрын
@@klaus_obermaier what do you like about it better vs oxi, especially considering Hapax has much fewer cv outs and the Usta and other modular sequencers are designed to be used..well, with modular primarily? (Just in general, I mean-I’ve been using a Five12 Vector but am considering the idea of something more like this all well laid out, also looking at Oxi)
@klaus_obermaier3 ай бұрын
@@NickHchaos OXI ONE: - no tuplets at all (my main reason to look somewhere else) - only 4 tracks (+ but with more variety) - fewer MOD lanes per track + small + 8 CV and 8 Gate outs HAPAX: + best tuplet implementation - better than USTA (which is a super powerful live sequencer) + 16 tracks + 64 MOD lanes per track + easy to use (MIDI) effect chain + less menu diving and double-assigned buttons + 2 screens + load and play 2 projects simultaneously! - only 4 CV and 4 gate outs. That's why I use the FH-2, but I already used the FH-2 for the OXI ONE to get enough CV outputs for my modular system. Of course, this can all change in future updates. But the HAPAX seems to have a very powerful processor, which makes it future-proof. I could have never done this with the OXI ONE: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnfck4Jjd5p7fNk

@@klaus_obermaier yeah, that makes sense, and yeah, I saw that Zappa one, amazing stuff! Incredible guy even though his music doesn’t really move me..I’m more of a Zawinul-Miles Davis kinda guy. I wonder what you would think of the Five12 Vector, it has all that kinda stuff and more, just no big pads etc.
@klaus_obermaier3 ай бұрын

Very nice, I love the "randomic" soloist. I have made some patches with the concept, but I didn't go has deep as to use a midi controller to get such details under control, you have octaves, probably complexity, going from left to right. The visual of the controller, reminds me the grids of "monome", don't know why. Good job.
