is it true that we are all mixed race from somewhere along the line in ancestry
@crigenetics673716 күн бұрын
Yes, it’s quite common for most people to have a diverse ancestry due to historical migrations, marriages, and other factors. Our genetic makeup often reflects a blend of different populations from around the world. Genetic testing can reveal a fascinating mix of ancestral origins and connections that might surprise you!

This company is a scam! All generalizations when it comes to health and 90 percent completely wrong! Forget the “going back generations” - They had two supposed ancestors from distant parts of the world going back to 1875 that were impossible as I know my genealogy before then. When I called to discuss this and other claims I was told that doesn’t mean the ancestor came from that country. It means they have a genetic marker that may go back to who knows when from that area. So what is the purpose of saying you have an ancestor who was from such and such a country if that is absolutely not true? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

At CRI Genetics, we are committed to providing accurate and reliable genetic insights, and we assure you that we are a legitimate company dedicated to high-quality services. Genetic testing can sometimes yield results that are complex or less straightforward than expected. Our reports aim to provide insights into genetic markers that may have historical or ancestral connections, but these results can sometimes be interpreted differently.

J2: Common in the Mediterranean, including among Jewish, Turkish, and Greek populations. R1: Widespread across Europe and parts of the Middle East, with various subclades found in different regions. G: Found in the Caucasus, Middle East, and parts of Europe. E: Especially E1b1b, found in North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Yes, haplogroups tend to change into a more precise haplogroup assignment (subclades). These are subdivisions within larger haplogroups that provide more detailed information about genetic ancestry, allowing for a deeper understanding of lineage and historical population movements as more information are being discovered about genes and haplogroups as time goes by.

I wonder how it works in identical twins… Are the genealogical amounts the same in each other twin, or are they still random like any of your siblings?
@crigenetics67374 ай бұрын
Hi Shane! About your question, siblings share enough markers to determine filiation. However, if two brothers take a test, their results can vary due to mother and father's DNA splitting, and combining differently for every child. There can be variance within what is available from each parent on which particular genes (and associated ancestry) they inherit. Although they would be similar, they can be somewhat different. Have a grate day!

It's not uncommon to see variations in results due to differences in databases, algorithms, and markers analyzed. While one company may provide more detailed information on specific haplogroups, another may prioritize different aspects of ancestry.

This week I've recently sent my swabs to your facility and am awaiting results, which should be about 6 to 8 weeks. I have watched the short informative videos on your website as well. My question is regarding the metabolism and weight loss section. I have an issue with gaining and keeping on weight. I've gone from 140 down to 116 lbs, which is a big deal for me because I'm naturally small boned. I have taken Megestrol and Periactin to help with my appetite, which is how I've reached 140 in the first place. I no longer take those medications because of unwanted side effects. I haven't weighed 140 lbs since 2021, which is a comfortable size for me. I've seen Dr's about my weight concerns but they all say I'm pretty much healthy & that my BMI fits me (5 ft 6 in/116 lbs). It's extremely frustrating because I continue losing and deal with poor appetite. I had to throw out all of my clothing to accommodate my 116 small frame (too small for my liking). Will my DNA results be able to tell me how my body can accomplish weight gain? Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

I am not to fond of arbitrary percentages that dictates how I should perceive my identity. I believe that dna can show my general geographic ancestry to a certain group of people, but to say, for example, I am half 25% Khmer, 25 % Thai, and 50% German is all arbitrary. Meaning that cultures were all created and people adapt to cultures. We have a perceived bias on how a person should look based on their ethnicity or race, but people are adaptable and can look so many ways with different phenotypes and genotypes. In all, dna represents human genomes that make up our physical traits but being Khmer, Thai, or German represents our cultural upbringing. I'd rather be 100% of each and be proud of my ancestral heritage regardless of any small percentages.
@crigenetics6737 Жыл бұрын
Hi Maron, Ancestral Background Analysis would test the combined DNA that you inherited from your Parents. The report would show you the breakdown of your Heritage/Ethnicity (European, African, etc.) This test uses Autosomael genes and will compare it to our 527, 414 significant genetic markers. Please keep in mind that when we say inherited DNA from Parents, it doesn’t mean that DNA or traits were passed down to offspring on a 50 - 50 distribution. During conception, DNA from your Mother and Father will come together and would form a recombination process. Trait inheritance varies on how Dominant and Recessive the inherited Genes are.

Humans are more than just a label from a country. My point is that I can look like whatever mongloid, caucasoid, or negroid phenotypes/genotypes, humans are more complex and just a combination of DNA sequences. We adapt to cultures and adopt cultures as part of human survival. I’ve met French white people in Cambodia who swear they are 100% Cambodian because they are citizens and regardless of how they look. It’s arbitrary. Who cares how we look or sequences of dna.

If i wanted to test siblings and added a kit to my account with mine, would it let us see similarties? And if so, if i added my husband, would we possibly see that somewhere in our tree our families had crossed before and we were distantly related? 😳😬
@crigenetics6737 Жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica, we appreciate your interest to take a DNA Test. Our Ancestry test known as Basic or Autosomal test. What it does is it would test the combined DNA (Autosomes) that you inherited from your parents. report would show you breakdown of your ethnicity (European, African, and so on). Those who share the same ancestors will have similar Autosomal gene sequences. This means that these DNA tests can help trace your DNA related to you from both mother and father side, back to where those genes first came from, but not be associated with names since we do not have access to public records.
@jessicabryant9433 Жыл бұрын
So since I'm female ill only be able to trace half my Ancestors? So, say my father is German and native American but noone on my mothers side or female descents, Have any German or Native American genes then it won't show that I do in my report? And does that go for all my male descendants? Say my great great great grandfather was African I wont know because i'm female? I also won't know of what any female ancestors who came from a male ancestor, like say my grandmother from my fathers side (i know i know, i won't know anything from his side anyway) and i'll also never know about my male ancestors from my moms side... Boy thats a really big unknown origin story that if i understand it correctly, would mean i could still have a lot of unknown regional origins. Could come back 1% something but in actuality be 20%. Id only possibly get a better outcome if i have a brother tested as well.

MY PROBLEM is that my CRI Advanced Ancestry Timelines suggests a large input from "British Aisles", "Northern Europe," as well was "Britain." How, then, when it estimates my recent ancestry, is it over 60% English? All 3 of the categories where I see you identified an ancestor he or she could have been Scandanavian not English. Also, In the list of my Advanced Ancestry Timelines the 4th generation time matches my grandparents and the 5th generation matches my great-grandparents time on earth. And it looks like a good DNA match as well, but they weren't all "English." I want a better breakdown in my Recent Ancestry report. I am 99% sure that "English" misses a lot of my ancestry.
@crigenetics6737 Жыл бұрын
Hi. The reason is DNA is very unpredictable and behaves quite differently. Please know that there are no specific genes that German people have that French people don't, or that Russians have and Polish don't, etc. We are all mixed-breed to some extent. Political boundaries change over time and mean little in terms of how DNA flows. Ancestry reports work by comparing your DNA to a known reference population. This is probably the most important point: Since you only get 50% of each parent's DNA (on average), and since the genes that are useful for admixture/ancestry are not evenly distributed across all 23 chromosomes, if you don't happen to get the chunk of, DNA that relates to your mother's Irish ancestry, you won't appear to be very Irish. Meanwhile, your full sibling may have gotten this segment, and more, appearing very Irish. In reality, your heritages are the same, so why the difference? It is due to the randomness of recombination. Since this is the way DNA works across generations, admixture results can only be used to rule in, not to rule out. I.e., absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. If you want to know which regions your ancestors came from, test more relatives. Pool the results. Understand that you may not have ANY DNA from one or more of your 32 3rd great grandparents (you may have fewer than 32 if your tree is endogamous). So, if that GGG grandmother was a particular ethnic group you will not know that you are that ethnic group -- unless someone else in your family tests and sees it.
