Whether or not one is in favor of abortion, the public voting in a referendum such as this settles the issue more decisively than a court decision - be it Roe v Wade or the California Supreme Court decisions interpreting the state constitution’s right to privacy. In this situation, the people of California voted overwhelmingly in favor of abortion rights. Yes, there could be litigation at the state level in terms of what this specifically means, but the central issue of abortion’s legality in California is settled for many years to come. It’s noteworthy that the “Yes” side received more votes that democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. That indicates support is bipartisan to a degree.

This is not an assault on women plain and simple. I don't believe in abortion because everyone has a right to life. But I am not hearing you say you will provide adoption services for pregnant women who just don't want to be mothers. That's a large segment of women who want to get rid of babies thru abortion.
