Great work, thanks for sharing. I believe they are made out of Beach.

I have three knives from the flatulent retriever (Frank Pramies) and I love using them! They are very well made and the fit and finish works perfect for me, they come very sharp and ready to use! Great job Frank! Thanks!

I'm dealing with the aches and pains as well! My hands swelling and shoulder joints experiencing pain also! I cope with it daily but I still carve!

I have those same gloves, but I have found that they turn my carvings black!
@scottscreativecarvings2 ай бұрын
It's the pencil marks getting on your gloves, I wash mine I have a couple pairs of them to alternate. I wash my carvings in warm water with dawn, before I do any finish work.😊

Use long piece of wood so you can hold carving better then cut when done

Yes I agree, but they were cut offs

Hi I’m in awe of your skill and ability to see the faces in the wood. Could I please ask if there is anywhere a new beginner could get a copy of these types of faces on the internet or would you know a link to some. It would really help me as I’m challenged this way with my disability. Thanking you in advance. R

Thank you for the kind words. The only advice I could give would be be patient with yourself and don't be afraid to try new things. And don't worry about ruining a block of wood. That's the only way you will learn. And remember, KZbin is your friend. And also you might consider buying a rough out from carvers that sell them. I have carved a couple myself, but I enjoy creating my own characters.

Thanks very much for sharing this. I was one of those asking for it. I'm fairly new to carving and picked up some other useful tips, especially for caricature faces, that I'll use in future. I find I need these videos as much as my knife 😊 Your instructions are very easy to follow and you go at a nice pace that I can follow. Good look with getting the carving group together.

Most old spools made of yellow pine or poplar....whatever was cheapest at the time. Plastic became popular around 1970

First of all thank for watching and thanks for the kind words. I made a video on this very subject. For Beginners I recommend flex cut brand, please wear a good carving glove, lots to choose from on Amazon.

Great tutorial! THANK YOU for the details about measurements and grain direction. That is so helpful to a new carver! Could someone make that book with a knife and no V tool? :( Also, majorly important question, what is Kitty name?
@scottscreativecarvings7 ай бұрын
Thank you I'm glad it helped you. Yes it can be done without a v-tool, it would just take more time to do. Her name is Sissy!
