Love BOC’s music, but their subject matter focuses a bit too much on bussy imho

King of Carnival @46:12 has the same atmospherics of undercurrents, mystery and the Orient as the 80's hit One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head.

So many unique, haunting, surreal, ethereal, fever dream inducing moments all over this album. It's grainy and low fi, and that only elevates BoC even more. I think this is their strongest album. It might not have as smooth production value as their later works, but their aura is the most transparent on this one.

This sounds wonkier than the album version, the album version sounds more like future bass.

This is a brutal record. One of a kind. Numb in particular has always disturbed me. As though someone has portended some disturbing secret, wrapped up in occulted darkness. A flickering candle going out, a dark face slowly peering back at you from the shadows. An orchestra keeps time in hell too. That drop in particular is the closest I’ve ever come to having a panic attack from a piece of music, and somehow reaching a smoggy enlightenment. It exerts a powerfully cold energy on my lower energy centers, as does the rest of the album, that I have had to physically cleanse myself after listening to it, so as to healthily move on to something different. Stott was a witch in a past life. Also I just noticed.. I think Alison is quietly singing “glass heavy” in Hatch the Plan. Half empty, full? Heavy. Also the closest we’ve got to someone making a song out of the Williams Street logo-sound at the end of some Adult Swim shows. Hah!
