Need to watch this again! Some very high discussion going on. Here's some thoughts: Prabhupada says both ways. We fall and nobody falls. He can’t logically say that “we” do not fall from Vaikuntha because obviously we (the fallen souls he is speaking to) are not in Vaikuntha. But he can say that generally, or factually, that nobody falls. When saying that nobody falls, Prabhupada is protecting Vaikuntha in its ontological, true sense. He is preserving the ontological, categorical sense of “Vaikuntha”. A soul who is “in Vaikuntha” refers only to someone possessed or engraciated with a type of consciousness, a type typified by immersion in Krsna’s internal energy, Yogamaya. Remember, Krsna consciousness is about consciousness in general, and Krsna consciousness specifically. Therefore we are talking about qualities and characteristics of consciousness which a non-material, transcendetal substance or ‘thing’. So when we say “eternally conditioned” or “eternally liberated”, this again refers to a jivas’ state or type of consciousness, not an object in space and time. If we are eternally conditioned, and if we are objects in relative space and time, how could we ever hope to become unconditioned? Eternally conditioned denotes the type or quality of consciousness possessed of mortal living beings. In such beings, there is no trace of transcendental, liberated existence and it is only by contact with the superior energy of God and through His agents that we get a taste of eternality, our constitutional nature of being. So again, when Srila Prabhupada is saying that we fall from Vaikuntha, he is speaking in the language of space and time and thus is not speaking in a purely ontological fashion. Someone who says that jivas never fall from Vaikuntha or that such a thing is impossible, they, assuming them to be properly spoken, are speaking in the ontological sense. If they are not, they are flirting with māyā-vada, impersonalism. Therefore it is easy to understand why Srila Prabhupada did not often speak in the onoltogical sense on this topic, because doing so is conducive to impersonalist misconceptions about the Absolute Reality, especially among newcomers to transcendental spiritual life. Jiva’s do in fact experience the fruits of their eternal nature as the marginal potency of God. This nature of marginality is an eternal quality or aspect of jiva-tattva. In this sense, it can be said that the jiva originates in the marginal position or brahmajyoti or from Maha-Visnu because that is his default and eternal position from which he can “lean” to one side or the other. Perhaps it’s helpful to conceive of “side” as being on Krishna’s “good side” or “bad side”. Thus, put another way, the jiva’s existence in the material world or spiritual world can be though of as being a difference in attitude or relationship between Krishna and the jiva. It is not that this subject can be satisfactorily analyzed in any degree of sophistication by sticking to mundane conceptual frameworks constructed of relative space and time. This issue of jiva falls and jiva origination, the controversy, is resolved by understanding the difference (or even existence of) ontological reasoning or speech and relative reasoning or speech which is in pursuance of Absolute knowledge.
