“Family” is needed as a 10th.Testimony Most Quaker testimonies can be paired with each other. Truth with Integrity, Equality with Justice, Non-violence with Mediation and Earth Stewardship with Simplicity. Each one of each pair cannot exist without the other. Truth cannot exist without Integrity nor Integrity without Truth, and so on. But the testimony of “Community” stands alone. It is self-evident that its pair is “Family” and that neither can exist without the other also. The Quaker founding fathers would never have thought that Families could be so compromised as to need a supporting testimony, but they have been. Searching “Quaker Faith and Practise” for the word “Family” I find that it is used only thirteen times. In the stillness of the night and in your quietest moments I ask that you place “Families” in the Light. It is where love is first found. Without love the testimonies are lost, not written in stone, but whispered on the wind. I invite you to share the “concern” that “Family” is of sufficient importance to be made a Testimony and that it is essential for “Community” to properly function. Accepting “Family” as the 10th.Testimony The Quaker testimonies of Equality and Justice have failed in the family. Fathers and children are at a disadvantage with many having been lost to each other. 45% of UK school age children do not now live under the same roof as their father. Quakers and their testimonies constitute a feminist/woke institution that does not accept this as being a problem, never addressing it. It is more likely to do so if “Family” is accepted as a Testimony on the understanding that children’s natural maturation process has 3 essential stages of need. A. The unconditional love of the mother from birth until about 7 years of age. The mother must have “thefinalsay” B. The conditional love of the father, who takes his children out into the world, gives security and teaching social boundaries from 7 until about 13 years of age. The father must have “thefinalsay”. C.The friendship and respect of their peers from 13 until 18 years of age. The child must have “thefinalsay”. If these 3 stages are not sequence in order, maturation is unlikely to be achieved and mental resilience reduced. This has now become generational. Such a regime of equal and just parenting rights (over time) would bind parents into a co-operative relationship, because (over time) each will hold the power of “thefinalsay” sequentially when it is needed and best favoured to use it. Such family protocols need to be the default position, (allowing love, courtesy and humour to prevail) but could in exceptional cases be varied by the courts. Buckminster Fuller said:- “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete”. To alleviate suffering is worthy. To prevent it is divine, but thankless.

But not enough it seems to be accepted as the Quaker way. It was blocked as a concern by a Quaker feminist.@@benhudson4014

"permissive in terms of belief" ?? Just yesterday I listen to a Quaker Speak video that says Quakers don't have a set of beliefs. I thought it was, There is that of God in everyone. You mean there are other Quaker meetings that I don't know of that prescribe a set of beliefs that all members must adhere to? I am shocked, Ben.

He is British and I have noticed that some (if not all?) British Quakers tend to have a more rules-based form of Quakerism that can even extend to Christian dogma. It's important to remember that there are three "flavours" of Quakerism: Evangelical, Conservative, and Liberal Quakerism. Here in Ireland a more liberal form of Quakerism is dominant, so I have some misgivings about the all-knowing tone and content of this lecture. As I listened, I was constantly reminded of the common Quaker claim that we do not attend meetings for worship in order to have our questions answered but rather to have our answers questioned. The wise words of an elderly Quaker I used to know also came to mind: "Walk with those who seek the truth, run from those who have found it". It made for uncomfortable listening in parts because I feel I might not have attended my first Quaker meeting had this lecture formed my introduction to Quakerism.

@@helenaville5939 don’t think he’s even trying to be ‘all knowing’…but he is an incredibly knowledgeable Quaker…and even though we are a liberal faith group there are key fundamental elements that separate us from other faith groups…and it is important that we Quakers have knowledge of these, not just a free for all attitude and we end up losing what makes us ‘Quakers’!

@@HMFOG77 He's only ""an incredibly knowledgeable Quaker" if you happen to agree with him. Many Quakers do not. Your insinuation that those of us who do not must therefore have "a free for all attitude" is simply irrational thinking. We clearly disagree and this is fine. Goodbye and I wish you well regardless.

@@helenaville5939 …to be honest there isn’t anything he says that can be disagreed with!…people might choose different wording for the divine which is perfectly understandable…the rest is just an explanation of the Quaker way…if you have a problem with that perhaps it’s you who needs to reflect…

How to take over a government. 1. commit election fraud 2. control the media narrative 3. censor everyone that talks about the fraud 4. place insurgents in Trump protest and have them commit unrest before the congress can hear election objections 5. immediately blame Trump for unrest, label all of his supporters as terrorists and silence Trump by taking away his ability to address the public 6. continue pushing anti-Trump message onto the already brainwashed country
