As A Dark skin girl to a light skin mother a dark skin father my brother was always given preferential treatment in the home. My parents always made me feel ugly particularly my dad. .. my Mom was separated from us and my dad continued to date light skinned women who were very horrible to me as a girl.... But I'm glad I came to understand that such mental complexes which were inherited from the media and the culture at the time, I was able to separate myself from their programming.

I have that problem with colorism on my dad’s side. His mom allows it too. If you’re not light, you’re not right. They don’t claim nurture respect or protect ANY of the darker toned family members. I don’t deal with any of them at all.

I am an adult dark skin woman. This colorism topic is an especially prevalent insecurity for many...why? Because globally, culturally light skin is considered more feminine. Humans are not indiscriminate breeders hence there are preferences unlike animals. As an adult, women should know that not everyone would like you or want to procreate with you. We are not entitled to a mans attention or affection. Now, prejudice for being darkskin outside of sexuality is abhorrent however, i would never go as far as claiming an "ism" simply because a man finds me incompatible with his aesthetic preference. Go where you are loved. In other cultures where light skin is normal, darker women are sought after and considered "exotic". Go there. I find it hypocrisy for a woman who considers being dark skin a problem to want a dark skin man to validate her internal bias. I find it crazy for a woman who has faced colorism to procreate with a black man and potentially have a dark skin baby without healing from her trauma. Why would you want to put that on your child?
