Levallois-Perret is a beautiful city in the north-west of Paris. It was created from a part of the district of Clichy (which was historically very large, encompassing for instance the Parc Monceau, in the south). The creation of the railway line between Paris Saint-Lazare and Saint-Germain-en-Laye in 1832 separated what is nowadays the city of Levallois from Clichy. This city was named after two business men, Mr Levallois and Mr Perret. I think this case is unique in France. It was the city of Gustave Eiffel, the famous architect of the tower and of the Gavarnie bridge (among many other creations) and of the composer Maurice Ravel (author of the Boléro, one of the more popular tunes in the world).
