Hey this is great! Plan on doing this for the ducks we have. You mentioned using insulated pails for winter? Could you elaborate on that? So you don’t have an automatic watering system for winter? Could you get an insulated hose and spigot? With a heating system in the water jug?

I just built a very similar feeder but with a bowl concept. I used a programmable garden water timer valve on the bottom and made it fully automated. Haven't had to clean it in weeks and it keeps my plants watered via an irrigation field I made out of a garden hose!

I hear that. With my first brood I was racing to finish the coop and duck yard and had four heavyweight ducks living in my downstairs bathroom for two months. Seriously bad planning on my part. I didn't, as they say, "line up my ducks in a row" before getting them and it was a major PIA.

I hope you do give them greenery and anything else besides the crumble...and maybe a kiddie pool so they can have some fun , since it ALL sand , it's shouldn't make mud and a big mess.

I've found that if you want to train your ducks to use the watering jug you can give them some yummy lettuce and then put some in the jug and they will go in there to eat it. Once they do that they will now know where the water is. It only takes one duck to figure it out. Once one does the whole flock will follow.

Kind of disappointed in your video. You talk a lot about you need to clean, you need to devise a watering system, etc., but you never tell us how you do it, or show it to us. Also, why didn't you show us inside the coop so we can see how to design our own. You talked about the fence through the middle and doors in the back, but you never explained it or showed it. Sorry for negative comments, but I hope you will take them under advisement for your next video so it might be more useful instead of just telling us you did it without explaining it. 😞

They need to make a bluetooth version of this remote. AND they need to add better ergonomics to the functionality of he way the air mouse cursor turns on and off. Like how those Mele remotes do. The Mele remotes air mouse cursor turns off automatically when you press any D-pad/navigation button. That's *EXACTLY* how all these fly-mouse remotes *SHOULD work.* Ergonomics! This remote is actually *EXCELLENT* for Kodi, DVR/live-tv, streaming apps, and other video playback applications like Plex.

Great information for cleaning sand in your duck yard! I just got two ducklings and am looking at different options for them. Thanks for your detailed information! 😊 You have gone to a lot of work putting everything together for your ducks!👍👏As I was watching your video I had a thought.... To help get rid of all the pine needles maybe putting a half inch hardware cloth attached to a 2in. By 2 in. wooden frame(then somehow make it so you can attached and detach as needed to your cleaning drum) so that the screen would catch most of the pine needles and debris from the sand. Same with the vacuum hose, put a screen on it when sucking up the water. Just a thought😊 I must say though, I'm impressed with all the work that you put into it all! 👏👏👏I could never get my husband to do that for my ducks. 🙄😕

Since they sleep inside at night during the winter, and don’t drink during the night, what about taking the water pals out at night, leaving them inside and putting them back out in the buckets in the morning when you let them out? I saw a video where you closed them up at night, did you have a heat lamp on them? Do geese need that even tho they are fully feathered?
@smithmal013 жыл бұрын
April, Depends on the weather. If it's going to be really cold (20F or colder) then you're idea of filling it up in the morning is probably good. I usually have more time at night than in the morning and as long as the temps don't go to low the insulated pails will keep the water from freezing. As to your second question you do not need to provide a heat lamp for ducks. They are very rugged. You just need to provide them shelter protection from the wind.

We just bought 2 ducks from TSC and everything is new for us. These videos are very helpful. I don't even know what breed they are, they are both all white. I can't tell if they are male or female or one of each. We love them and they bring us a lot of joy and entertainment. We got them just before Easter. No eggs or anything yet. We converted an old children's play house into a coop but we want to build a pond for them. We're using a kiddy pool for them right now. I want to get them ready for winter. We live in Southern West Virginia and our winters are pretty mild. Will they need a heat lamp in the winter?
